Chapter 1
THE PROBLEM
Background of the Study
The East Costal Organic Farm began in telegrafo on January 15
2018. 800 square meters. And owner of the east costal organic farm,
Hon Manuel Chavez decide to plant organic vegetables and fruits
because he sees many young people who have early sicknesses and
are in the early stages of death because of they are eaten with
synthetic chemical. And his second purpose why he has built it
because he wants to help telegrafo residents without job, he wants
that through this project he will be more able to help and many youths
will be farm from the pain that causes early after death.
Organic Farm is a modern reaction strategy in rapidly change in
farming industries. It is described as the practices use by farmers,
which means farming without use of synthetic chemical. Organic
Farming continues to be developed many agricultural organization
today. Compare manure and green manure. It also uses techniques
such as crop rotation and accompanying planting.
Telegrafo is a barangay in the municipality of San Jose in the
province of Camarines Sur. These populations according to the 2015
1
census, this 1,527 represent 3. 76% of San Jose total population of
according to the census, the age group with the lowest population is
7,550.79 with 12 individual. The telegrafo population grew from 1958
refers to a positive of 1,471 in 2010. Telegrafo is located at about of
13.6829, 123, and 5,512 in the island of Luzon. The elevation of these
coordinates is estimated at 4.1 meters of 13.5 feet above sea level.
The livelihood of telegrafo is the growing of rice, vegetable, and also
harvest the sugarcane, and fishing.
The study of organic farming will help the tourism industry
through the immediate development of organic farming as a tourist’s
attraction in the barangay Telegrafo and can enjoy these returns to
buy products from the organic farming. The purpose of this study was
exploring influential factors for conserving and encouraging organic
farming management. Organic farming can led to better health for
both farmers and consumers because it reduces dangerous chemical
contamination.
2
Statement of the Problem

University to encourage other learners to become aware of the
protection of nature and to know how important the tourism industry
in the community.
PSU Community –this study helps PSU Community to be aware
about organic farming and to know how important it is to have organic
farming in a community, to protect the environment and health of
each other.
Scope and Delimitation of the Study
This study is more concerned with how to promote organic
farming in BarangayTelegrafo, San Jose, Camarines Sur. As a result of
this study will be taken from the responses of residents’threats. And it
focus if how to promote organic farming to identify as tourist attraction
Furthermore, this study will only be restricted to the barangay
Telegrafoin San toJose, Camarines Sur. The products will be sold
through direct sale and orders are also accepted from the customer
throughout Camarines Sur. who wants to buy products, and it will also
be identified especially organic farming in the area and recognizable a
successful farming throughout Camarines sur. And in some other
places, and that’s why tourist are supposed to buy good products in
the barangay Telegrafo

Definition of Terms
Some words uses in this study are defined conceptually and to
facilitate and clear understanding of the readers of what it means.
Organic Farming – is a way of cropping and animal production that is
largely involved in the selection of pesticides, fertilizers, genetically
modified organisms, antibiotics, and growth hormones. It is often use
by farmers to grow and increase their crops and also because of its
use can prevent people from serious diseases caused by other fertilizer
with chemical and as such the lives of people can be longer.
Pesticides - A chemical use to kill pests including insect, rodents,
fungi, and unwanted plant (weeds). It is often use by farmers to keep
their crops in good quality.
Fertilizer – it is a natural or artificial substance contains the chemical
substance that improves plant growth, and productivity it is use
bypeople to grow to become more fertile, and they have a lot of
harvest in their crops.
Tourist Attractions - are a core component of tourism. They are
often called “tourist attractions” because they tend to attract tourists.
8
Attractions are the places, people, events, and things that make up
the objects of the tourist gaze and attract tourists to destinations.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
This chapter contains the review of related literature and
related studies, the synthesis of the state of the art, the conceptual
framework of the study. The study reviews the significance of the
present study.
Effectiveness of Organic Farming
According Chait 2018, Farming is not just a rewarding
career, but a smart and potentially financial successful career choice
especially if your goal is a niche area, such as organic farming. It can
seem a little overwhelming when you first decide to be an organic
farmer especially since the path to organic farming is different for
everyone else. While Froidevaus, Louboutin, Jones 2017 described the
effectiveness of organic farming for promoting biodiversity has widely
documented. Studies have been undertaken in temperature agro
ecosystems with a focus on birds, insect, and plants, the potential
benefits of organic farming for biodiversity.
9
However Puig Montserrat 2016 described that the organic
farming is implementedby environmentally friendly farming systems. A
landscape approach is required for higher mobility species. Based on
Treitier 2016 under the management of vineyard plot organic farming
conditions alongside maintenance of a high proportion of ground
vegetation cover. The main recommendations favor arachnid
biodiversity regarding bats conservation actions should focus on
increasing landscape connectivity, with the water accessibility,
restoration, creation, of freshwater site and roost availability for
instance, and the installation of bat boxes.
With reference to Hartman 2016 observed the lower spatial
variation in the organic farming system seems to point towards
enhancing food web functioning. Williams Guillèn 2016 specified that
the ecosystem service provide for agro ecosystems. It investigates the
exposure of bats to pesticides in agricultural landscape dominated by
different farming systems organic (integrated and conventional
farming).
Socher (2013) explained that farming stating third hypothesis
can reduce resource bottlenecks by providing higher early and late
flowering resource. In particular organic farming increased bumblebee
species richness by providing higher flower cover at the end of growing
10
season.Vasseur 2013. Explained that despite the fact that organic
farming did not enhance stability of flower visitor species richness it
will increase stability of flower resources in the majority of habitat
types. In fact we found that within a year there is that stability of
butterfly and bumblebee.
Lao 2018 emphasized that organic farming has many benefits
farming practice cumulatively conditions and enriches the fertility of
the soil increase farm productivity, reduces pollution and destruction of
the environment prevents depletion of natural resources, saves on
imported farm inputs, and protects the health of farmer consumers;
and the general public. Tacio 2018 also said that organic farming has
become a trend toward a healthier lifestyle. The government
formalized the adoption of this Farming system when Congress passed
Republic Act No 10068 or the organic act that mandated government
to promote, propagate, and develop further, the implement practice of
organic agriculture in the Philippines.
Based on Miyazoe 2017, local farmer already began
implementing high value perennial crops like cacao, coffee, banana,
and black pepper also emphasized this farming system that is based
on non- renewable resource like petroleum and cannot be sustainable.
11
In other words our Farming system should not create pollution or
poison and everything should be recycled.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics 2018 careers in
conventional farming are on the decline, However, smaller farming
market niches are experiencing more success and profit, and it is
cheaper to become involved in local organic farming to local organic
producers, face lower initial investment since there is no need for
massive amounts of expensive chemical fertilizers pesticides, and
genetically modified seed stock. However based on the United Nations
Food and Agriculture Organization more than 75 percent of agricultural
genetic diversity was lost in the 20th century, often times, smaller
local farms grow many different varieties of crops and rotate them to
provide a long harvest season.
Seufert and Ramankutty 2017 state that the stabilizing effects of
organic farming on species diversity could be a promising way to
enhance the sustainability of agricultural land-scapes by increasing the
predictability and provision of key ecosystem services important for
crop production such as pollination Kleijn et al.,2015. Further studies
are needed to shed light on whether organic farming benefits the
persistence of both common and rare species Tuck et al 2014 thus
12
effects of the organic farming system on biodervisity have been
investigated on birds, plant and insect in temperature grass and crop,
Development of Organic Farming
Lirag and Bordado 2018 discussed that study was conducted to
determine the status of the Organic Agriculture (OA) Research and
Development (R and D) programs in Bicol Region Philippines. It aimed
to conduct inventory (R and D) projects in organic agriculture
determine the information, needs of (OA) stakeholders and identify
research gap propose strategy. And also (Eurostat, 2016) emphasized
due to wildlife friendly management implemented in organic farming
(e.g. non-use of synthetic chemical pesticides and input fertilizers low
pressure on land use and its positive influence on landscape
heterogeneity and complexity.
However the study of the Boori et al 2015 organic farming can
play an important role socio economic development and make villages’
self-sustainable, degradation of environmental quality and food safety
concern due to excess use of fertilizers promoted the organic farming
in recent decades. Identification of suitable sites for organic farming or
agriculture requires consideration of different climatic topological
13
environment and geo- physical limitation. Kamkar et al 2014also said
that accurate and recent Land Use/ Land Cover (LULC) and other
geophysical data should be considered for assessing environmental
concerns.
Deep and Saklani 2014 emphasized the geospatial tools can be
used for the identification of the suitable lands for the organic farming
on different criteria like soil quality, geology, drainage, topography of
the place. This technique can also help to identify and prioritize the
potential site for the organic farming. With the reference while Peer et
al 2014 the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) has encountered
intensive and productive farming to ensure food security. Chakrabarty,
Wang, Meng, and Zhang 2014 also claimed such farming behavior,
which uses agricultural chemicals, converts to accumulation of more
than 2 million tons of toxin per year in the ecosystem.
In study made Tamayo, Castro, and Lim 2013, it emphasized the
inter connectedness of the various stakeholders of organic agriculture
which include farmers. According to them all agriculture as the mode
of farming can be a good agenda yet may come as very costly policy
as it will do the socio economic conditions of the farmers. Based on the
study of Debode, et al 2013it was emphasized that organic products
are often perceived as more environmentally friendly than their
conventional counterparts. European Commission 2013 explains why
14
European countries are eager to promote environmental labeling and
sustainable food products. And Soil Association 2013also emphasized
the growing importance of organic farming has created an urgent need
to compose the environmental effects of organic and conventional
farming methods.
Robertson et al, 2014; Zhang et al., 2013; Wall et al., 2013. A
pivotal question will be to what extent the stabilizing role of soil
organic matter in farming systems is based on quantity or on quality of
the organic matter. As the quantity of organic matter available for
organic farming can be a major constraint in many regions of the
world, solving this scarcity should be a top priority for further
enhancing the sustainability of farming systems practices.
Synthesis
The studies help the researcher to conceptualize and gain a deeper
understanding of the level of satisfaction in organic farming tourism
experience is the similarity and diversity of current research.
Jennifer Chait 2018, focus on smart and potentially financial
successful career choice this training it is a learning experience about
the successful and intuitive development of organic farming.
Froidevaus, Louboutin, Jones 2017 focus on demonstrating the
15
effectiveness of organic farming for promoting biodiversity in the
current study of the effectiveness of organic farming. This will help to
develop organic farming in the barangay telegrafo. European

to promote environmental labeling and sustainable food products. It
suggests that how passionate to grow Europeans to feed their diet.
While Soil Association 2013 focuses on the growing importance of

environmental effects of organic and conventional farming methods.
However Puig Montserrat 2016 and Debode, et al 2013 focuses
on the organic farming is implementation of environmentally friendly
farming systems. Organic products are often considered more
environmentally friendly than their conventional counterparts. Because
organic farming helps the environment and most everyone and it helps
it even extend the lives of each everyone. (Hartman 2016) observed
