SOCIAL ENTREPRENEUR
Social entrepreneurhip is the work of a social entrepreneur. A social entrepreneur
recoognises a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organize,create and
manage a venture to achieve social change ( a social venture) Whereas a business
entrepreneur typically measures performance in profit and p to further social isreturn, a social
entrepreneur focuses on creating a social capital.
Thus, the main aim of social entrepreneurship is to further social and environmental goals.
However, whilst social entrepreneurs are most commonly associated with the volutary and
not- for –profit sectors, their need not necessarily be in compatible with making a profit.
Social entrepreneurs are individual with innovative solution to society’s most pressing social
problems. They are ambitious and persistent,tackling major social issues and offering new
ideas for wide scale change.
Leaving the societal needs to the government or business sector,social entrepreneurs find
what is not working and solve the problem by changing the system, ,spreading the solutions
,persuading entire society to take new leaps.
Social entrepreneurs are the need of the day, with numerous problems in the society and
environment ranging from poverty, illiteracy and sanitation to Global Warming – all waiting
for solutions.

NGO’S
A non profit making, voluntary , service oriented/development oriented, either for the
benefit of members .
It is an organization of private individuals who believe certain basic principles and
who structure their activities to bring about development to the communities that they
are servicing
They are social development organization assisting in empowerment of people.
An oragnisation that is flexible and democratic in its oragnisation and attempt to
serve the people without profit for itself.

THE WEAKNESSES OF NGO’S
Role conflict as to the traditional areas of operation and micro entrepreneurship
development.
Doubtful leaderhip and succession.
Anti-business philosophy, lack of programme integration due to lack of proper
understanding of entrepreneurship approach.
Inadequate opportunities to work as trainer/motivator.
Absence of impact assessment because of self righteousness, on the part of the
leaders.
Not all NGO’s are equipped and ready to take up this activity .

poor as they can identify those who are in most in need and tailor assistance to
their needs.
10) NGO’s have the ability to communicate at all levels, from te neighbourhood to
the top levels of the government.
11) NGO’s are able to recruit both experts and highly motivatvated staff with
fewer restrictions from the government.
