Sonography Pyometra Bitch

Ultrasonography was used to diagnose pyometra in two German Shepherd bitches with symptoms of gastritis. Examination revealed anechoic fluid within the uterine lumen and uterine wall thickening. Ovariohysterectomy confirmed the presence of pus, confirming pyometra. Sonography can easily diagnose pyometra when large volumes of fluid are present in the uterus, and helps determine if surgery is needed.
