PROCEDURES
Miss Bierne
Collecting Notes and Forms
• There will be a basket labeled “Notes from Home” on the counter by lunch count
and attendance
• Put any form or note from home in the basket
• A list of accepted items will be placed near the basket
Classroom Tardiness
• If you are tardy:
• Place the tardy slip from the office in the basket marked “Tardy Slips” by the attendance
• Enter the classroom quietly
• Get materials ready
Absent Folder
• Find the absent folder on your desk
• In the folder you will find all the assignments you missed
• You have 2 days for every day you were absent to complete your work
Organizing Homework
• Each student will have a “Back and Forth Folder”
• The left pocket is for work that is “Done”
• The right pocket is for work that is “To Be Completed”
• Everyone is responsible for bringing their folder to and from school
Paper Headings
• On your paper you need the following:
• Name
• Number
• Date
• Subject
Unfinished Class Assignments
• There will be a “Work In Progress” folder kept in your desk
• Place any unfinished assignment in this folder
• Work on these assignments in your free time
Emergency Preparedness
• During an emergency please, be calm and quiet
• There will be a map posted by the door with the evacuation routes highlighted
• We will have drills to practice procedures
Getting Students’ Attention
• I will say, “1..2..3..eyes on me,” the class will respond “1..2..eyes on you”
• When you hear this, please stop what you are doing and listen for instructions
• The noise level should be silent
Classroom Jobs
• Check the job wheel for your name
• There will be a job list posted next to the job wheel with the;
• 1) Name of the job
• 2) Description of the job
• 3) What time of the day the job is done
• 4) How often the job is done

• We will switch jobs every week


Classroom Phone Ringing
• I will always answer the fun unless I am working with a student
• If I am unable to answer the phone, the person who has the job of answering the
phone will answer
• There will be a prompt taped on the phone to guide you
Bathroom Breaks
• When is an appropriate time to use the bathroom?
1. Before, during, or after recess
2. After a lesson has been taught
3. During independent work time

• We will use the bathroom as a class before recess and lunch


• Raise your bathroom card attached to your desk if you need to use the bathroom
Replacing Dull or Broken Pencils
• Place your dull pencil in the bin that says dull and grab and sharp pencil out of the
bin that says sharpened
Keeping Desks Orderly
• There will be a poster of what is considered an organized desk posted
• We will have daily “One minute cleanups” to organize your desk
• We will a wipe down of desks once a week
Collecting and Returning Papers
• We will have a designated person to collect papers in each pod
• Papers will be returned in mailboxes and will be collected during designated times
Classroom Transitions
• I will “give you 5” when it is time to transition
• You will have until I get to 0 to put your materials away and prepare for the next
task
Keeping Students on Task
• This will only be used as a last resort
• If the class is noisy and off task I will introduce the STOP strategy
• I will write STOP on the board
• Each time students are noisy/ off task I will mark off a letter
• If all the letters get marked off we will finish the activity and start an educational activity
Finishing Work Early
• When you’re assignment is done and turned in:
1. Complete any unfinished tasks
2. Practice your math facts
3. Independent read
Missing Assignment Slip
• If you do not have an assignment completed you will need to fill out a “Pink Slip”
• On this slip you will need to fill out:
• Name
• Date
• Missing Assignment
• Reason for not completing assignment
Daily Closing Message
• At the end of class we will review the events of the day.
• Today, in (subject), we ______________
• Homework for tonight is ____________
Guideline Infraction Notice
• If you are off task you will receive a “Stop Sign”
• If you continue to be off task and disruptive we will talk after class
Morning Meetings
• Morning meetings will take place after the Welcome Activity
• We will gather in the Reading Corner, greet everyone, and discuss:
• Daily schedule
• Upcoming events
• Review morning message
• Student concerns
