I - OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:


a. Explain argumentative essay.
b. Realize the importance of avoiding aggressive driving.

REFERENCES : Module in grade 10 pp. 131 – 134, Internet

MATERIALS : PowerPoint Presentation, laptop, projector

A. MOTIVATION:

Have you ever taken a ride in a public transportation with


an aggressive driver? Yes.
What did you feel? I was frightened
Did you argue with the driver? Yes. Because that was my first time to encounter riding in
a vehicle with an aggressive driver.
We need to argue with the driver in order for him to
realize that it’s not a good deed or behavior because our
safety is at risk.

B. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON:

Today we’re going to discuss the argumentative essay on


page 131 of your module. But before we it, do you have
an idea of an argumentative essay is? Argumentative essay is a writing piece meant to persuade
someone to think the way you do.
An argumentative essay attempts to be highly persuasive
and logical.

C. LESSON PROPER:

Now, you’re going to read a sample of argumentative


essay on page 131 – 132 of your module entitled
Aggressive driving should be avoided.
Read it silently. (Students will read silently)
{AFTER READING)
On your notebook, answer task
(Student will do task A. Reason out)

Class, what are the common signages you see along the

Because signages give information that could help us
prevent accident.

to every one of us especially to the drivers.

D. GENERALIZATION:
Now, explain argumentative essay.
An argumentative essay attempts to be highly persuasive
and logical. It usually assumes that the reader disagrees
with the writer, but it should be noted that the reader is
no less intelligent than the writer. Hence, an
argumentative essay should be written objectively and

Those selection is an example of an argumentative essay.

IV – EVALUATION:

Now, group yourselves into 5 members. On a short bond


paper, answer page 133 of your module. (Students will do their task.)
