VRIKSHASANA

 Vrikshasana means 'Tree pose'.

Steps:

 Stand erect. Keep the feet together.


 Fold the right leg and placed it at the top of left thighs with the toes
of right leg should pointed downwards.
 The right leg should perpendicular to the left leg.
 Extend your arms above your head.
 Inhale and try to make Namaskar mudra with your palms.

In standing position exhale and while inhaling stretch both arms


above the head from the sides and join the palms. Lift the heels,
stand on the toes and pull the whole body upwards. Maintain the
asana, breathe normally.
Benefits:

1. It strengthens the spine while improving both balance and poise.


2. It improves and aids neuro-muscular coordination.
3. It tones the leg muscles while making the ligaments and tendons of
the feet stronger.
4. The knees become stronger, and the hip joints are loosened.
5. The eyes, inner ears, and shoulders are also strengthened in this
pose.
6. It relieves those suffering from sciatica and reduces flat feet.
7. It makes you stable, flexible, and patient. It enhances concentration
and activates all the mental faculties.
8. This pose helps to deepen the thorax.
This posture is not recommended for people who are are
suffering from migraine, insomnia, low or high blood pressure (those
with high blood pressure may do this pose but without raising their
hands overhead, as this may further raise their blood pressure).
It is recommended for people who are suffering from depression and
anxiety.
