Overview of the Unit: Students will be learning about texture and how to apply it in their artwork. Students have
just ended a unit about cats, focusing on shape, color, and pattern with their drawings. I am going to have students
put their hands into bags and have them describe the texture of what’s inside. I will have a few different textures
like, soft, rough, smooth, rough, fluffy. We will talk about the textures that mammals have. I will teach students how
to use tissue paper to add texture to drawings of animals. First they practice on animal templates, and then they will
choose apart of their favorite animal, draw it, and add tissue paper texture to their drawing as well.

Lesson:

I will start off class with a Youtube video about texture. (in materials)
After I will have students feel all the items around, and ask them about the textures they feel. I will ask essential
questions.
I will have students pick their animal outline, and I will show them how to add texture using tissue paper.
Students will begin artmaking
