9. Viruses and bacteria are pathogens, causing diseases like the common cold, AIDS and cholera.

13. Many disea e are caused by the activities of human being .

(a) Some infectious diseases are caused by drinking water which has been contaminated by
human beings. To prevent this, large-scale water purification is undertaken to supply
households with clean drinking water.
