These are to be forwarded directly to the Graduate Program Director of the program
you are currently registered in. Referees may opt to return the completed form to you
in a sealed envelope which is also acceptable.
Please note that applicants do not apply for individual fellowships. Complete applications
must be in the appropriate office by December 15. Decisions are made by the Graduate
Awards Committee and the winners are notified in April following an evaluation of the
files of all eligible candidates. Fellowships commence the September following the
announcement. At the time their fellowship payments commence candidates must be
registered as full-time students in their program. Unless otherwise stated, these awards
have no citizenship restrictions.
Candidates are only eligible to have a fellowship during the first four terms of full-term
studies at the master’s level (the first six terms of full-time studies for the M.B.A.,
M.F.A., M.A. Creative Arts Therapies and M.A. Educational Technology programs). Doctoral
fellowships can only be held during the first nine terms of full-time doctoral studies.
Summer is counted as an active term. In calculating eligibility for candidates who are

time studies at the master’s level (the first six terms of full-time studies for the M.B.A.,
M.F.A., M.A. Creative Arts Therapies and M.A. Educational Technology programs). At the
doctoral level, fee remissions can only be held during the first nine terms of full-time
doctoral studies. Summer is counted as an active term.
Inquiries and application for an exemption from international tuition fees should be
made directly to the student’s own Ministry of Education prior to leaving their home
country. In some cases, when the person lives in Canada, it may be possible to apply for
the exemption at their Embassy or Consulate in Canada or the United States. All students
who hold French Citizenship are exempt from paying international tuition fees due to
France-Québec agreement.
Students receiving this award are charged tuition fees at the same rate as Quebec
students.
