Some of the sources relevant for Ph.D/Research work specifically in the
field of Management are as below:
(A) Books:
1. ASTD Handbook of Measuring and Evaluating Training (Patti P.
Phillips)
The above-mentioned book has contents contributed by some
renowned practitioners in the learning evaluation field. The book
has been written by Patti P. Phillips who is the President and CEO
of ROI Institute, Alabama, USA. She is also Faculty at UN System
Staff College in Turin, Italy.
2. Managing Employee Retention (Jack J. Phillips, Ph.D and Adele
O. Connell, Ph.D)
The above-mentioned book addresses retention of employees as a
serious problem. It also explains the step by step process
(according to contents of the book) in Managing Retention of
Employees. The Book talks about measuring and monitoring of
data pertaining to Turnover and Retention. It also encompasses
other factors such as Work Environment, Employee motivation,
Equitable pay, and Performance processes.
Jack J. Philips, Ph.D., is an expert on measurement and evaluation
at ROI institute, Alabama, USA. He is a Ph.D. in Human Resource
Management from University of Alabama. In 1987, he won the
Yoder-Heneman Personnel Creative Application Award from the
society of Human Resource Management
Adele O. Connell, Ph.D., was a full-time adjunct professor for
Weber State University’s School of Business while doing her
Ph.D. from University of Utah; Connell has over 20 years of
military service and is a Colonel in the US Army Reserves
(B) ERIC (Education Resources Information Center)
ERIC is an online library and is sponsored by Institute of
Education Sciences of the United States Department of
Education. ERIC provides access to 1.5 million bibliographic
records of journal articles and other education-related materials.
ERIC begun collection since 1966 and includes;
Journal articles, Books, Research syntheses, Conference papers,
Technical reports, Dissertations, and Policy papers
(C) Academic Social Networks
Academic Social Networks is a way through which a lot of
information can be sources for Management discipline; as a
matter of fact, information can be sourced for all disciplines.
Some such network sites are ResearchGate, Academia.edu, and
Google Scholar.
1. ResearchGate (www.researchgate.net) gives an option to
researchers to upload materials such as research papers, conference
papers, etc. It is also very helpful to locate posters and slide decks
that are not archived in other online databases. It also provides
community interaction features.
2. Academia.edu (http://academia.edu) allows user to create a
personal profile, upload papers, request feedback, follow
researchers, send personal messages to other researchers, and view
analytics on your papers. However, it is important to check the
archiving policies of each paper before choosing to upload or share
papers.
3. Google Scholar is a search engine that can be used to identify
hyperlinks to articles that are publically available. Google Scholar
also compiles a list of top publications in each discipline based on
journal impact.
(D) Wiley Online Library
Wiley Online Library (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com) hosts
world’s broadest and deepest multidisciplinary collections of
online resources which includes resources pertaining to
Management. It belongs to John Wiley and Sons (Founded in
1807). The company produces books, journals, and
encyclopedias.
(E) Conferences
Indian Institute of Management – Calcutta
(https://www.iimcal.ac.in/) The IIM Calcutta website has some
rich resources from a Management perspective in the form of
past and future conferences and seminars. This content / data
can be used for literature review.
(F) Magazines
1. Harvard Business Review (HBS)
Harvard Business Review (HBS) is a general management
magazine published by Harvard Business Publishing, a wholly
owned subsidiary of Harvard University. HBR is published 6
times in a year and is headquartered at Brighton, Watertown,
Massachusetts. Harvard Business Review has been the frequent
publishing home for scholars and management thinkers such as
Peter F. Drucker, Michael E. Porter, C. K. Prahalad, Robert S.
Kaplan, etc. It was founded in the year 1922
2. Fast Company
Fast Company is a monthly American business magazine that
focuses on technology, business, and design. Fast Company was
launched in November 1995 by Alan Webber and Bill Taylor,
two former editors of Harvard Business Review editors and
publisher Mortimer Zuckerman. Frequency of publication is 10
times per year.

Academy of Management Journal is a peer-reviewed management
journal covering all aspects of management. It was established in
1958 and was known then as Journal of the Academy of
Management. According to Journal citation reports, the Journal
had a 2012 impact factor of 5919, ranking it third out of 172
Journals in the category of Management
