Week 4 Blog

This weekly journal entry from Week Four discusses the student's planning for their film production project. They learned about the importance of planning, storyboarding, and contingency planning. They overcame issues with script writing and scheduling by getting inspiration from other films and communicating with cast and crew. Their storyboards and script are of a high standard to clearly convey the narrative. Planning has developed as the story changed, requiring updates. Cast and crew were well organized except one illness required rescheduling. The student admits they are behind schedule and need to complete blogs and research outside of lessons.

Week Four - Planning

PLANNING

What did you learn from your planning I learnt that I need to keep on top of my planning or I get
this week? behind, I also learnt that the story board and script is very
important as it helps understand all the angles you are going to
use and helps to visualise the whole short film and what you
need to film so you have a better understanding out what to
do. I also learnt I need a contingency plan as if anything goes
wrong you have a backup for everything which is very helpful.

What issues did you encounter and I encountered some issues such as writing the ending in the
how did you overcome them? script, I didn’t know what to write so I got some inspiration from
some short films I had analysed. I also had trouble writing the
production schedule as I didn’t know when I was going to do
everything so I had to work it all out and email all of my actors
so I had a set time to film.

How did you ensure that your I ensured all of my storyboards where completed to a high
storyboards were completed to a high standard by drawing to the best of my ability and trying to
standard? draw every angle and clip I wanted to include in my
production so I had a very detailed storyboard which you
could understand what was happening by looking at it.

How has your planning The planning has developed a lot as I have added lots on to
developed/changed during the my story and changed some things so I needed to put that into
planning stage? consideration and include that in all of the planning.

How have you ensured your I have ensured my script was to a high standard as I laid it out
script/shooting script is of a high In a professional manner I have also tried to think of everything I
detailed standard? could use in my production and in the narrative in as much
detail as I could.

How well have you managed and I have managed very well as I emailed all of them with a date I
organised your cast and crew to be in needed them and it all went well except when one of my
available when you need them? characters got ill but he had already started filming so I had to
use him. I had to wait and pick different dates to film but
ended up getting all of the footage so it worked out.

Are you on track for the week? If not, I am not on track as I still need to finish some of the weekly
how far behind are you? blogs and research.

What work do you need to complete I need to complete some of the weekly blogs and research.
outside of lessons to stay on track?
