 Planned and taught U.S. and World History to students in an urban setting with limited background knowledge,
and a low socio-economic status
 Collaborated with language specialists to allow full immersion for ESL and ELL students with a majority of the
schools’ population speaking English as their second language
 Designed lessons with the special education staff to implement classroom accommodations and modifications
for students with diverse learning needs with IEP’s and 504 Plans
 Altered instruction to meet the needs of the high-achieving students and struggling learners.
 Piloted “Youth in Government” civics program that incorporates after school hands-on learning opportunities
that lead to a culminating four-day conference in Lansing, Michigan

 Planned, differentiated, and taught lessons in U.S. History starting with the Industrial Revolution and ended
with the Civil Rights Movement
 Developed units using the Understanding by Design framework
 Taught a socially, economically, and culturally diverse group of students based on their academic and behavioral
needs
 Created, collaborated, and executed original Unit lessons for 10 weeks
 Participated regularly in collaborative group work during PLC meetings and focused on group interactions
during department and staff meetings
 Presented after-school Enrichment Opportunities for all U.S. History students to attend on a bi-weekly basis.
