Handry was born in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. He graduated as an Bioindustrial Engineer


from Bogor Agricultural University, and got his Master’s Degree (Cum Laude) from IPMI
and MBA from Monash University. As the college student, he was selected as the best
student in nations 1993, receiving award from the President of Republic Indonesia.
Handry holds PhD degree in strategic management from University of Indonesia with the
dissertation topic of “Examining The Impact of Followers’ Influence on Leaders’
Performance : A Reverse Pygmalion Study”. In 2006, Handry joined executive education
on macroeconomic of competitiveness in Harvard Business School and registered as one
of the lecturer for that subject in Indonesia.

He joined GE in 1997 as Business Development Manager in GE International, after several


years working on local companies. In 1998, he moved to GE Lighting Indonesia and get
assignment as the General Manager for Industrial Lighting and Systems. Mid 2001, He
took the opportunity to become a Regional Black Belt in GE Power Systems Asia Pacific,
and become Quality ACFC Leader for GE Power Systems Asia in 2004. In 2005 Handry led
Power Generation business for GE Energy in Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and
Philippines . Starting July 2010, he was promoted as the President & CEO of GE Indonesia.

Having interest in the field of education and volunteerism, Handry likes teaching during
his spare time. He is a member of Advisory Board for Indonesia Institute of Management
Development (IPMI) and Department of Industrial Agriculture Engineering of Bogor
Agriculture University (IPB). He also serves as a Chairman of GE Volunteer Indonesia
Chapter. Handry is a member of Board of Governor in America Chamber of Commerce
(Amcham) Indonesia, and a Vice Chair at Indonesia Country Committee of US-ASEAN
Business Council. He married Dinar Sambodja, his former colleague in GE Lighting
Indonesia, now a public notary in West Java, and they live in Jakarta. Handry enjoys
reading, sports, collecting traditional Balinese paintings, and travelling with his wife.
