A. Theoretical Support for the Product/ Concept Selected


Dynamite Roll is a dish derived from the famous
Chinese dish Lumpia. Its main ingredient is the chili
pepper, stuffed with ground pork and cheese wrapped with
lumpia wrapper.
According to Wu, David & Cheung, Sidney (2013),
Lumpia is rampant in Southeast Asia especially in the
Philippines which is brought by the Chinese. Lumpia has
become indigenized filled with various vegetables wrapped
with edible wrappers. Some Filipinos also add peanuts and
sautéed vegetables. It is served with a sweet and sour sauce
with sautéed garlic. Another recipe of Lumpia is the well-
known Lumpia Shanghai packed with pork that many

where Lumpia is an egg roll wrapped with a thin crepe that
showcases different ingredients such as pork, vegetables,
and shrimp. With this, Filipinos have innovated and came
up with the idea of adding spiciness to the famous Lumpia
which is Dynamite Lumpia.
In the study of Lopez-Carrillo, Lizbeth, Hernandez,
Avila & Dubrow, Ronald (1994), consumption of chili
pepper provides health benefits to people. In another case
of Schmidl, Mary Katherine, & Labuza, Theodore (2000),
the flavorings of chili pepper comprise high-level of
capsaicin which shows to have anticancer activity. Similar
to the study, Surh, Young-Joon, & Lee, Sangsup (1996),
aside from food additive, chili pepper is also used to treat
different peripheral painful conditions including diabetic
neuropathy and rheumatoid arthritis.

C. Product Development
1. Prototyping
The “Dynamite Roll,” came to be as the final product
after long discussion made by the proponents. By following
the set procedures, the proponents started to make the
product.
First, prepare all the necessary ingredients for the
Dynamite Roll: Finger chili peppers, ground pork, garlic,
onion, salt, pepper, cheese, lumpia wrapper, and oil.
Second, prepare the things needed for the mixture of the
ingredients. Then, make a slit across each chili peppers
from the stem down to the tip and remove the seeds inside
and drain it with water. Chop the onion and mince the
garlic.
Third, in a bowl, cook the ground pork with garlic,
onions, salt carrots, and pepper to taste then sauté. Set aside
for 10 minutes to cool. Using a teaspoon, gently stuff each
chili pepper with pork mixture and cheese.

Fourth, separate lumpia wrappers and lay on a flat work


surface. Fold lumpia wrapper into the half. Place one
stuffed pepper on the folded wrapper encloses chili pepper.
Roll tightly to fully cover the chili pepper with wrapper
and seal seam with a dab of water or egg white. Repeat the
procedure with remaining chili peppers.
Lastly, heat the pan then add 2 inches deep of oil. Wait
until it heats at 350 F to 375 F temperature. Add prepared
peppers in a single layer and cook for about 7 to 10
minutes or until golden and crisp. Remove from pan and
drain on a wire set over a baking sheet. Serve hot with
ketchup.
D. Survey
The proponents conducted a market survey last
December 7, 2018, around Barangay Apas which is the
target market area. There are 30 randomly selected
respondents who were given a structured questionnaire
made by the proponents. Most showed enthusiasm towards
the business.
The proponents guided the respondents in answering the
structured questionnaire after they have tasted the product.
It consists of the respondents’ profile and their preferences
on the product, its prices, and promotions.
As shown in T 4able 1, the majority of the respondents are
composed of ages 11-20 years which is 40%. Most of the
respondents are female, with regards to civil status and
occupation; the majority is single and still studying. When
it comes to household income, below P10,000 and P10,000
- P20,000 have an equal percentage.
The respondents' preferences regarding the product, price,
place, and promotion showed in Table 2. In terms of the
product's temperature, the respondents mostly preferred
serving it hot and in terms of the product's familiarity, the
majority is familiar with the product.
In terms of the price, the respondents are willing to
spend P10.00 - P20.00. Moreover, many of the respondents
preferred to expect P10.00 as the cost of the product.
As for the place, more than half of the respondents
usually buy the Dynamite Roll in the streets. Also, most of

Lastly, in the promotion, the method to be employed by


the business is social media as preferred by almost half of
the respondents.
Table 3 shows the results of the acceptability test that was
conducted by the proponents. The aroma, taste, color, and
texture of the different variety of Dynamite Roll which is
the cheese, meat, meat-and-cheese were rated and
evaluated as highly acceptable by the respondents in
general.
The first variety of the product which is the Cheese
Dynamite Roll has a weighted mean of 3.43 when it comes
to the aroma which indicates that it is highly acceptable.
When it comes to taste, it has a weighted mean of 3.63
which is interpreted as highly acceptable. A weighted mean
of 3.33 was obtained regarding the color of the product
wherein it implies as highly acceptable. The texture of the
Cheese Dynamite Roll was then evaluated in which it got
3.47 that corresponds to highly acceptable. As for the
general acceptability, 3.47 was the weighted mean which is
evaluated as highly acceptable.
As for the second variety of the product, Meat Dynamite
Roll, it has a weighted mean of 3.27 in terms of its aroma
which is evaluated as highly acceptable. In regards to taste,
it is highly acceptable in which it has a weighted mean of
3.36. When it comes to color, it got 3.47 which means it is
highly acceptable. Moreover, a weighted mean of 3.40 was
obtained in regards to the texture which implies as highly
acceptable. The general acceptability of the Meat Dynamite
Roll is 3.61 which is evaluated as highly acceptable.
As for the third variety of the product, Cheese and Meat
Dynamite Roll, it got a weighted mean of 3.63 when it
comes to aroma wherein it is interpreted as highly
acceptable. In terms of taste, it got 3.70 which means that
the product is highly acceptable when it comes to taste. In
addition, a weighted mean of 3.53 was obtained in regards
to the color of the Cheese and Meat Dynamite Roll which
means that it is highly acceptable. It is also evaluated as
highly acceptable when it comes to texture in which it has a
mean of 3.57. Lastly, the general acceptability of the
Cheese and Meat Dynamite Roll is highly acceptable with
a weighted mean of 3.61.

A. Justification on Market Variability


Dynamite Roll may much be known, and popular to local
areas but this Dynamite Roll has its variations (cheese,
meat, cheese-and-meat) that distinguish from other product
and the price itself is very justifiable. The business will be
capitalizing on strong product and service that offers
delicious and clean Dynamite Roll.
Based on the market survey conducted by the researchers,
the business will be attainable. The local residents of
Barangay Apas, which have knowledge about Dynamite
Roll have tried eating it. According to the result of the
Acceptability Test done by the proponents, it resulted that
80 percent of them are willing to purchase while the
remaining 20 percent are not. There is 13 percent of them
are not familiar with it while a portion of 87 percent of the
respondents is familiar with Dynamite Roll based on the
results of the survey conducted by the proponents.
With all the mentioned factors above, as the proposed
business market viability, the researchers are assured that
the business will have a ready market for the products it
will offer. Moreover, the researchers are using the right
promotional campaign that will ensure an established
market.

B. Target Market
Product. The dynamite lumpia, derived from the
traditional Chinese spring roll with a twist which is having
chili pepper as its main ingredient. The Dynamite Roll has
different varieties which are cheese, meat, and meat-and-
cheese. The product can be a snack or viand depending on
the consumers' choice. It has an accompaniment of ketchup
which enriched the taste of the said product. It is also
suitable for any kinds of drinks and occasions.
Place. Dynamite Lumpia will be sold at Cebu City,
specifically at the Barangay Apas. The proponents will put-
up a stall at the center of the area wherein there are a lot of
people that are attracted to the product. It has a high
number of potential customers because it is near the
primary and secondary school where students can easily
access the food stall. It is also near to the Camp Lapu-Lapu
Central Command where a lot of soldiers are training.

Price. The cost of the dynamite varied depending on the


variety of the product namely cheese (Php 8.00), meat (Php
12.00) and meat and cheese (Php 10.00). The selling price
was set based on the cost tracing done by the proponents.
The selling price may vary depending on the factors of
production which are land, labor, capital, and
entrepreneurship.
Promotion. As the business grows as planned in
Barangay Apas, Cebu City, the proponents will consider
having a consignment with the stores present in the area in
the following year. After that, as the business successfully
employs the plan, the proponents suggest having an
expansion in other areas of Cebu City. Moreover, the
proponents will also consider in creating stalls inside the
malls, school canteen, public markets and other possible
places that can be able to sell dynamite legally.
C. Marketing Programs/Strategies
Dynamite Roll is a fried food business which seeks to
provide valuable products and services to the restaurant or
any food businesses.
Marketing Objectives. Dynamite Roll will be present to the
streets of Barangay Apas, food stall, and small restaurants.
It prioritizes the satisfaction and interest of the customers
especially this product was uncommon to the people
because of the texture and product name. This product will
provide customer satisfaction with the affordable price and
good quality taste of food. The planned marketing strategy
aims to increase sales and to give the demand of the
customers.
Pricing. The price of the products in Dynamite Roll is
competitive and affordable by the market. Pricing will
depend on the different varieties of Dynamite Roll. The
business uses the target pricing method and buyers are
likely to perceive with fixed prices.
Distribution. The business’ main location is at Barangay
Apas where the Dynamite Roll will offer its products and
services.
Advertising. Dynamite Roll will utilize social media as a
tool to promote its product and services. The business will
make social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and
Instagram so that it can connect to the customers on the

digital space and post updates as well as its offerings.


During the succeeding years, the business would increase
its effort in advertising, but at the same time since the
business will gradually be known in the public, the increase
would be a smaller percentage. Aside from the things
mentioned marketing strategies above, additional
advertising strategies will be implemented to increase
market and brand awareness of the Dynamite Roll as well
as it will maximize its sales and product promotion.
With the succeeding years, the proponents will have its
stall improvement in order to maintain its ambiance.
Posters and signboards will be posted around the barangay
to endorse the business and attract more customers.
The business has direct and indirect competitors present
in the chosen area. They both have similarities with the
proposed product which plays a vital role in the product's
competition, development and advantage in the industry.
Their different 4P's (Product, Promotion, Price, and Place)
are shown in the table below.
As shown in the table, the Street Dynamite Roll is the
direct competitor of the Proponents’ Dynamite Roll while
the Carenderias are the indirect competitor. In terms of
promotion, the Proponents’ Dynamite Roll only offers
consignments, varieties, and expansion unlike the other two
which set as the edge in that aspect. In price, the proposed
product is more expensive than the competitor’s product
because it offers unique varieties. Lastly, in having a
conducive and clean place only the Proponents’ Dynamite
Roll and Carenderias have the proper area.
The estimated demand needed in the portion of the target
area is 500 units according to Barangay Apas’ census as of
2018, which was chosen as the factory location but the
supply given by the market are only 160 units leaving 340
units as unanswered demand. The proponents planned to
supply 200 units which are equivalent to 41% of the
unanswered demand.
The proponents recognized the existence of various food
businesses in the target market considered as competitors.
The proponents believed that it would be a disadvantage to
produce 340 units directly since there are direct and
indirect business competitors present in the location

Assumption:
Moreover, the newly opened business also serves as a
threat. Thus proponents assumed the demand and supply of
the product through test selling. During the test- sell, the
proponents were able to sell 75 pieces in total: 18 cheese-
filled Dynamite Roll, 12 meat-filled Dynamite Roll, and 45
meat and cheese-filled Dynamite Roll. The proponents
only consumed three hours for test-selling but were
planning to have 8 hours of business operations. Thus the
units per variety were divided into the 3 hours and
multiplying it to 8 hours. Therefore, the demand and supply
per day were 48 cheese-filled Dynamite Roll, 32 meat-
filled Dynamite Roll, and 120 meat and cheese-filled
Dynamite Roll which resulted in 200 units.
The weekly and monthly demand and supply was
based on the daily calculated amount. The business will
mostly operate for 26 days per month. The weekly amount
of Dynamite Roll is multiplied to four and one-third to
come up with a total of 26 days as to monthly demand and
supply.
The figure exhibits the projected potential demand for the
target market of the Dynamite Roll. Based on the market
study conducted by the proponents of the business wherein
assumption was made. In addition, the business will
provide two types of a general market which is a mass-
based market and low-to-middle market.
Students nearby the location of the business holds the
highest percentage of the total percentage demand which is
72%, as most of the students are fond of eating food and
snacks, especially during their break time. Though they
don't have their source of income, they still have their
allowances which they can use to buy the product wherein
making them as the most prospective customers of the
business.
The residents of Barangay Apas impart 28% to the total
potential market demand who passes by the location of the
business. Some of them are motorcycle drivers,
housewives, and bystanders around the area, although not
everyone has their sou 5rce of income, they still manage to
buy the product. Thus they were considered as part of the
potential market demand of the business.

Since the proponents have projected the monthly demand,
they come up with the projected monthly supply as well.
The allocated Dynamite Roll for the local residents in
Barangay Apas is 323 cheese-filled dynamite roll, 215
meat-filled dynamite roll, and 806 meat-and-cheese-filled
dynamite roll. The remaining products of 829 cheese-filled
dynamite roll, 553 meat-filled dynamite roll, and 2,074
meat-and-cheese-filled dynamite roll were consumed by
the students of Barangay Apas.
3. Present Supplier Competition
Nowadays, a lot of businesses have emerged selling light
snacks to people especially to students thus expecting a
high number of competitors in the market. Through the
different variety of the product that the proponents offer, it
gives an edge to the other products. Moreover, people
would prefer their food to be served hot or warm which the
proponents are serving. The location of the business is
nearby the school which makes it more convenient for
students as they enter and go to their school.
A. Technical Production Description

Through the years, spring roll has gradually evolved and


developed into the new taste as chef's from around the
world transform different kinds of spring roll according to
their country's tradition, taste, and trend. For those who do
not know, the spring roll is also one of traditional Filipino
dishes, similar to an eggroll, but instead filled with meat.
Dynamite Roll is a type of deep-fried spring roll pastry
filled with cheese stuffed green finger chilies, sometimes it
is breaded, filled with other ingredients such as
minced/sliced pork, beef and or chicken. Spring rolls, in
general, are Chinese pastries which involved placing
different components in the wrapper, which is either served
fresh or fried.
In the Philippines, Fresh spring rolls essentially a mix of
different minced vegetables which is wrapped in the
lumpia roll. The products will be made with quality and at
an affordable price using the best equipment and tools. The

1. Preparation Phase. Prepare all the ingredients and
cut the ingredients into smaller pieces.

varieties such as cheese alone, ground pork alone and mix

as served as a cashier, and his schedule for work will be
from Monday-Friday and Saturday will serve as his day-
off. Another employee will be the reliever in which he will
serve as a kitchen staff every Friday and service
crew/cashier every Saturday.

require multiple workers considering it is only a small stall.
The business will envision much into aptitudes of the

The food stall business is located near the Camp Lapu-
Lapu Elementary School and Apas National High School
wherein the students can easily buy the Dynamite Roll. It is
also accessible to the residents of Barangay Apas since it is
located just along the Omega Street.
As seen, the business logo is simple, yet it easily attracts
costumers since it is clear and readable. Also, the
background picture of the logo is the Dynamite Roll itself.
Lastly, the brand name can be changed depending on the
desires and wants of the owner of the business.
As shown in Figure 6, it is the food stall plan which is
simple and unique. It has two long chairs on each side for
the customers to cater. Also, in Figure 10, it shows the
sketch plan of the business location from University of
Cebu-Banilad to Barangay Apas. For the brand logo, it
does not have any hidden meaning for it is quite direct to
the point but despite the simplicity, it is inspired with
aesthetics.
J. Waste Management and Disposal System

In a business venture, one must have a legal obligation


to effectively manage their wastes. They are accountable
for any damages caused by their irresponsibility in doing a
waste management system.
Disposing of waste in a responsible manner lessens
adverse effects of their waste on the environment, one of
which is consistent waste reduction and recycling. These
are extremely important, especially for our environment.
Waste management has to do with human health also;
improper handling and disposal of waste can lead to severe
medical conditions of humans. Practicing bad waste
management causes respiratory problems and pollution.
Another thing, chemicals present in soil and water can
harm plants and animals.

The management will make sure that before the staff makes

crew must wear the proper attire so that after making the
product there will be no excess of dirt.
A. Legal Form of Business
Sole Proprietorship is the type of business ownership in
which the proposed business is managed and controlled by
the management. The entrepreneur’s duty of being the
manager, financial manager, and decision maker is to listen
and learn. The entrepreneur must possess technical skills,
responsible for all the risk and goal-oriented to achieve
good results.
1. Site Location. Barangay Apas, Cebu was the chosen
place to hold the business location since it is located near
the school where most students love to eat affordable and
satisfying food. The negotiation of rent terms and the
agreement is done according to the time frame. The allotted
time frame for the activity is estimated to be two weeks

which would fall in the first and second week of


November.
2. Looking for suppliers. The proponent will be searching
for suppliers that can give raw materials needed with low

be one week will fall in the second week of November.
3. Purchasing Equipment. The proponent will look for the
necessary equipment and purchase it based on its durability

to secure everything and is done on the third and last week
of November.
5. Permit and Licenses. This time it will involve
processing the license and permits to legalize the business.
The compilation of the required documents is processed
within the last week of November.
6. Staff hiring. For the betterment of the venture, it is
significant to have staff in running the business. The job
will be offered to the public while the interview and
screening are done after that qualification of the job. This
activity will be done in the first week of December.
7. Training and exposure. The hired staff will undergo
