I.OBJECTIVES REMARKS
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

a. Appreciate the importance of proper Dance


Etiquette in social dancing.
b. Perform the basic steps of waltz and apply the
proper etiquette in social dancing.
c. Identify the proper Dance Etiquette in social
dancing.

II.SUBJECT TOPIC: Dance Etiquette (Social Dance)


MATTER MATERIALS: Tarpaper/Tarpapel or MS PowerPoint
REFERENCE: Learner’s Guide Grade 9 ,Pg. 43-50
Google/www.wikimedia.org
Value integrated: Appreciating the importance of
Dance etiquette in social dancing.

III.PROCEDURE MOTIVATION:
The teacher will ask questions and present pictures
about social dances.

Follow up question
a. Who loves dancing?
b. What do you feel when you are dancing?
c. What can you say about the pictures presented?
d. What kind of dance presented?
e. How do you describe social dances? Well we find
out in our activity.
A.ACTIVITY
Group Activity

Teacher will divide the class into three or four groups


and each group will choose a leader to present ideas.
The following terms are associated with the lesson:
1. Ballroom Dance
2. Cotillion Dance
3. Dance sports

Guidelines
1.Select one which familiar to you
2.Create a circle in your notebook or activity sheet
and write the term you selected

3. Draw as many lines as connections you can give


about the term outside the circle.
4. At the end of each line, write words that describe
the experience, description or anything you can say
about the term you chose.
5. Organize your thought and share it to your
classmates.
B.ANALYSIS

1. Base on activity given, how are they related to each


other?
2. What do you think their differences?
3. Do you think proper attitude or etiquette is
necessary in dancing or social dancing?
4. How should you behave and perform in a certain
social dancing activity?
5. Why do you care about dance etiquette?

C.ABSTRACTION
Brief description of Social dances
Social dances -are the dances intended primarily to
get to know other people in attendance to a certain
social function.
-also called as ballroom dances and performed in
pairs.

What is etiquette?

Dance etiquette is a set of guidelines that help you


navigate the social dimensions of dancing. Why do
you care about dance etiquette? Because it is
essential for you to maximize how to go about the
process of social dancing and have a happy dancing
experience.

WHAT TO WEAR
Dancing has its own culture, the more formal the
dance, the more formal the outfit.

Don’ts IN TERMS OF OUTFITS and DANCE SHOES:

1. Do not wear sneaker or any shoes with rubber or


spongy sole.
2. Avoid sleeveless shirts and strapped dresses.
3. Avoid shaggy, baggy, low armpit upper shirt.
4. Avoid accessories like big rings, watch and
necklaces
5. Long hair should be tied.

PERSONAL GROOMING
BEFORE THE DANCE DURING THE DANCE
1.Shower and use 1. Check your grooming

DEMEANOR
1. Be personal, smile and make eye contact with
partner
2. Project a positive image on the dance floor even if
it’s not your personal style.
3. Dance at level of your partner
4. If you don’t know the dance floor, be honest;
refuse promptly if asked to dance.
5. No teaching on the dance floor, it may insult your
partner
6. Do not cut other dancers off.

D. APPLICATION
The teacher will let the students to perform a simple
steps of social dance which is waltz by partner,
without considering yet the proper attire and
grooming in social dancing, student will dance and
apply the proper etiquette have learned.
Performance will be assessed using the criteria:
Courtesy, grooming, behavior during and after
dancing.

IV.EVALUATION
IDENTIFICATION
Direction: Answer the following question in a ¼ sheet
of pad paper:
1. This dance intended primarily to get to know other
people in attendance to a social function.
2. It is a set of guidelines that help you navigate the
social dimensions of dancing.
3. What to remember the don’ts in terms of outfits

and after the dance. 1 example
