Abstaining from visiting people during tet holiday while being pregnant

Not only for those who has just their relatives, former Vietnamese also avoid visiting other’s house while
in pregnancy. In fact until now, many pregnant women are advised to abstain from visiting and wishing in
Tet holiday.

Because people believe that pregant women bring bad luck, also the newborn babies in the future will
become graceless people.

2. Abstaining from arguing and backbiting somebody

These activities bring sadness toward other people. Especially in Tet, people should be more
considerable in there behaviour. Nobody likes bad stuffs, they will bring bad luck.

3.Avoid using sharp things

In Tet, people often avoid heading sharp things towards their house because they can “cut” happy
marriage,opportunities and life expectancy of the owners. To stop this, people also put away their
scissors, knives away and only take out when necessary.

4. Avoid keeping the door closed.

In Tet, unless you have to go out, visit others, you shouldn’t keep your door house closed because in the
First day of Tet, Ngoc Hoang will be visiting each residents’ house and if you closed the door, this will
show disrespectfulness towards him. Then, for many years after, your family will suffer poverty.

The buds and leaves from Tet plants are often very vulnerable. Shaking trees will make these fall down,
which is not very fortunate.

2. Picking buds

Picking buds is a tradition of Vietnam Tet. Vietnamese often pick buds in New Year Eve or the First of Tet
to wish for a lucky new year.
