Unit Topic:

Abstract Realism, Pop Art, Op Art, Performance Art (July 22 - 10 Falcon)


(July 24 - 10 Eagle)

Content Standard:

1. art elements and processes by synthesizing and applying prior knowledge and
skills
2. the arts as integral to the development of organizations, spiritual belief,
historical events, scientific discoveries, natural disasters/ occurrences and other
external phenomenon

Performance Standard:

1. performs/ participate competently in a presentation of a creative impression


(verbal/nonverbal) from the various art movements
2. recognize the difference and uniqueness of the art styles of the various art
movements (techniques, process, elements, and principles of art)

Learning Competencies:

1. analyze art elements and principles in the production of work following a


specific art style from the various art movement
2. identify distinct characteristics of arts from the various art movements
3. identify representative artists and Filipino counterparts from the various art
movements
4. reflect on and derive the mood, idea, or message from selected artworks
5. determine the role or function of artworks by evaluating their utilization and
combination of art elements and principles
6. use artworks to derive the traditions/history of the various art movements
7. compare the characteristics of artworks produced in the various art
movements
8. create artworks guided by techniques and styles of the various art movements
(e.g., Impasto, Encaustic, etc.)
9. describe the influence of iconic artists belonging to the various art movements
10. apply different media techniques and processes to communicate ideas,
experiences, and stories showing the characteristics of the various art movements
(e.g., the use of industrial materials or found objects, Silkscreen Printing, etc.)
11. evaluate works of art in terms of artistic concepts and ideas using criteria from
the various art movements
12. show the influences of Modern Art movements on Philippine art forms

Transfer Goal:
The students describe/compare the Modern Art Art Tradition. They will also relate
those arts in their daily lives of the people around them.

Essential Questions:
Does our culture has anything to do with Arts?

Enduring Understanding:

Before we formally begin our lesson, let’s find out if you know something about the Modern Art.
Up next are a few activities that will assess what you know, what you can do, and what else you
need to learn to achieve your targets for this module.

Are you ready?

Activity 1

When you travel especially in a foreign country, you need to have an idea about their
culture. You need to know what kind of food they have, their mode of transportation, type of
clothes to wear, important sights or places to visit, the religion, music, art and so many other
things.

Why do you need to know about the country’s culture before travelling? Each country has its
distinct characteristics and knowing about them helps you adapt and cope with their
culture.

One way of learning culture is through their art. Are you ready to learn Modern Art
Movement in the 20th Century??

Activity 3. Guided Generalization

Essential Question:

From what was discussed how can you tell that the culture of a certain country affects arts.
Expound based on the said discussion.

From the videos they’ve watched, students will now have a deeper understanding of what
Modern Art is all about and is greatly influenced by the culture of its county.
