Orientation Instructions

The bell schedule for the first week of school is as follows:

Period Time

Morning Meeting 8:00 – 8:25

Homeroom 8:30 A.M. – 8:45 A.M.

1st Rotation 8:50 A.M. – 10:00 A.M.

2nd Rotation 10:05 A.M. – 12:05 A.M.


First lunch – 10:25 A.M. – 10:55 A.M.
2nd lunch – 11:00 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
3rd lunch – 11:35 A.M. – 12:05 P.M.

5th Block (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) 12:05 P.M. – 1:15 P.M.

7th Block on Monday and Wednesday 1:20 P.M. – 2:30 P.M.


6th Block on Tuesday and Thursday

Homeroom 2:30 P.M. – 3:15 P.M.

1. During both homeroom periods, teacher MUST take attendance on the warm body sheet,
and students will work to complete a video presentation of their orientation experience.
2. All videos should not be any longer than 5 minutes, and are due no later than 4:00 P.M.
on Thursday, August 15, 2019.
3. There will be ONE video submitted for 6th grade, ONE video submitted for 7th grade,
ONE video submitted for 8th grade, ONE video submitted for 9th grade, ONE video
submitted for 10th grade, ONE video submitted for 11th grade, and ONE video submitted
for 12th grade.
4. All seven videos will be shown during the program on Friday, August 16. A special
schedule will be sent for Friday, August 16.
5. All videos must include:
a. Demonstrates knowledge of the school’s history including (but not limited to): all
principals, founding date, transition to current school name
b. Demonstrates that students in the grade know the Alma Mater
c. Demonstrates that students in the grade know the Fight Song
d. Demonstrates that students know procedures for the following places: Library,
computer lab, cafeteria, auditorium, student support
e. Demonstrates that students know the principal, assistant principal, guidance
counselor, librarian, athletic director, all secretaries, ISS teacher, instructional
facilitator
f. Demonstrates that students know what the requirements are for graduation (all
students must complete a separate graduation plan)
g. Demonstrates that students know how to handle conflict

h. Demonstrates that students know how to code switch


i. Demonstrates that students understand the uniform policy
j. Demonstrates that students understand the cell phone policy
k. Demonstrates that students know the rules for sexual harassment
l. Demonstrates that students know the rules for entering school
m. Demonstrates that students know the non-negotiables
n. Demonstrates that students know the rules for leaving the building in the
afternoon
o. Demonstrates that students understand the procedures for receiving a hall pass
6. The videos must also include 100% of all students enrolled by Wednesday, August 14, in
that grade.
7. The videos will be judged on creativity and timeliness of submission.
8. Students must complete at least 75% of the video product.
9. The grade that wins the contest will win a pizza party!
