Q1 POLIGOV
Psychology is an exciting field and the history of psychology offers the opportunity to
make sense of how it has grown and developed. The history of psychology also provides
perspective. Psychology is one of the branches of social science.
Political psychology aims to understand interdependent relationships between
individuals and contexts that are influenced by beliefs, motivation, perception, cognition,
information processing, learning strategies, socialization and attitude formation. Political
psychological theory and approaches have been applied in many contexts such as:
leadership role; domestic and foreign policy making; behavior in ethnic violence, war and
genocide; group dynamics and conflict; racist behavior; voting attitudes and motivation;
voting and the role of the media; nationalism; and political extremism. Psychology is the
science that studies and analyse people’s behavior. It is an academic discipline and is
also a social science that seeks to understand individuals and groups on how they behave
with each other. Now, politics is the process of making decisions that apply to members
of a group it refers to achieving and exercising positions of governance organised control
over a human community, particularly a state. While, governance is the process of
governing. Governance is the way the rules, norms and actions are structured, regulated
and held accountable. This is all related because the behavior of a person can affect the
politics and how a certain group is being governed. The world of politics reflects
human nature in all its rational and irrational glory. How we govern ourselves and making
decisions, we often abuse power, reflect our deepest fears at least as much as our
aspirations and ideals. Because many of the world's biggest problems are behavioral in
nature. I think that politicians have a certain trait or behavior in able for them to govern
their people. Leadership is essential to a politician. Because a good leader is more
concerned about its people more than himself, accepts responsibilities, builds
relationships and has the passion of winning. It has also been applied to the general
concepts, such as ‘power’ and ‘influence’, and of definitions of Political Science, such as
that which sees it as a study of Who Gets, What, When and How.
It is relevant and important to the study politics with/and governance because we’ll
learn about how political power is distributed, how different governments operate and
interact, how rules are made and enforced. Politics affects virtually every aspect of our
lives, including the availability of education, jobs, housing and healthcare. Whether
countries are at war or at peace depends both on what governments do and who supports
them.
