GRADE 4 INTEGRATION SCRIPT FOR GUIDED IMAGINATION

CIVILIZATION

Students will enter the class one by one. At the enterenace they will be instructed to take a seat
facing the wall and at all times, keep their eyes closed.
Room will be dark and a soft music consisting of old indian instruments will be played, creating an
atmosphere for the exercise.

SCRIPT-
Welcome to the time machine. Today you all will travel to the past.

Time input - 7am
fasten your seatbelts and let the adventure begin
(music for time machine plays)
silence
(soundtrack of birds chirping and river flowing)

You are at the bank of river Indus. River is flowing with a gush, Birds are chirping the morning
melodies. You can hear distant cries of children crying. Across the bank, you can see a civilization.
Looks like a village.

You need a boat to cross the river but there is nothing around you, not even a tiny raft. You dip your
feet in the water; it is cold.
You take a few steps, only to realise that the river is deep, river bed is steep and you are too short.
Suddenly an obstinancy/herd of water buffaloes rush into the water for a morning dip. Sun is rising
and leaving a hue of orange and pink, painting the sky in all it's morning glory. It's started to get a
bit warmer.
Suddenly you get an idea. You try to get on the water buffalo but fail miserably and inturn end up
scraping your knee as you fall on the river bed consisting of pointy rocks and pebbles.
You are not the one to give up so easily, so you try again but the last moment the buffalo rushes
forward and you fall again. This time you manage to balance yourself on your feet and save
yourself from hurting your other knee.
You look at the buffalo in the eye. If you want to cross the river, He is your only mode of
transportaion and you are starting to feel a bit hungry. You take a deep breath and pet the buffalo
softly, calming him and yourself both. After your hearbeat becomes normal, you do not waste
anymore time and instantly jump on it's back. This time u succeed.
Buffalo starts running towards the bank of the river on the opposite side.
River is deep and your legs are submerged in water. Buffalo slows down in the middle of the river,
instinctively you flap you legs on his tummy and he picks up speed again.

Water is being splashed on your face as you enjoy the bumpy ride on the back of a water buffalo.
This is new and exciting, like a crazy ride in an adventure park. You are scared and balancing your
body is not easy, but it is exciting at the same time. You never imagined to experience something
like this in your life and you are surprised how much fun this is.

As you cross the river and plop yourself down, you are mesmerized to see the village in front of
you.
It is not really a village but a city from the ancient times.
There are 1 and two storey houses made of clay and burnt bricks. Men and women are doing their
daily chores, wearing a wrap around cloth on their body. Some of them are wearing ornaments
made of hammered gold while most adorned bracelets and neclaces made of terecotta.
Most women had cone shaped hair accesory that made them look more feminine.
Men were walking towards large farms that had wheat and barley plantation, ready to be harvested.
Women on the other hand were doing their morning prayers.
There were figurines of a male God and a female God.
You don't know what are they called but the male god was surrounded by the animals and the
female god had a plant growing from her womb.
You are intrigued to find their names, so you walk towards a few females to inquire about the same.
Upon seeing you in your modern attire, they start pannicking. A few start shouting for help, while
some look really angry and ready to defend themselves.
You don't understand the language they are speaking and unfortunately they can't understand your's
either.
Amidst this chaos, you are extremely confused. You have no idea how to make them understand
that you are from the future and mean no harm.
Suddenly a group of men come rushing towards you and capture your limbs with their muscular
hands. You try to free yourself from their hold but it's all in vain.
An old man says something in their native langauge and then the men holding you start dragging
you somewhere.
As you are being dragged through the town, you are mesmerized with the architecture. Town is well
planned and is structured in grids; houses open in the back alley and there runs an underground
drainage system through the entire town.
As they go further, lands starts to eleivate. Houses start to look a lot more richer in their
consturction and size.
Men, women and children hurdle out to see you being dragged by the muscle men. They are
watching you with curiosity in their eyes, as if you are an alein.

You reach the upper part of the town. You know it is upper town because you are at a height. There
is fortified hill like structure that adorns big and rich houses. Probably rich people of the town stay
here.
A man who looks like the leader of the town, walks out of a huge house. He is wearing lot's of gold
ornaments.
He rounds around you and watches you sternly, as if examing you . After discussing something with
the muscle me, he orders something and you are again dragged somewhere.
You are pushed into a huge house where a lot of women are sitting on the ground and de- seeding
the cotton from the seeds. It looks like a tiring process to do this manually. Suddenly you feel
thankful for all the machines and technology in your times.

You look out of one of the windows and see dogs, sheeps and goats tied outside the houses as
domesticated animals.
You are suddenly pushed into a room where u see a hot furnace like structure. You can see flames
coming out of it. When you get closer, you see the furnace is orange and looks hotter then the sun
itself. A man is melting two metals in the furnace. Assumably its copper and tin. That's when it
clicks, they are making bronze.
After the metals are melted , they are poured in clay vessels. The whole process looks
mesmerizing.
They are probably from the bronze age, the river that you crossed is Indus and probably this is one
of the small towns of Indus valley civilization. Maybe you are in Harappa.

You are pushed into another dark and dingy room. You are trapped here and you need to get back to
the time machine on the other side of the river to get back to the moder civilization in present time.

Think of how you will escape and make it back.

you are executing your plan of escape now.

(suspense music)

you face a hurdle on the way, but you are a fighter, you overcome the obstacle and continue your
journey.

(suspense music)

you are stuck on how to cross the river again.

(suspense music)
you are very smart. You always come up with amazing ideas.

you have reached the time machine.
