INTRODUCTION
The Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law, is a Republic Act signed by the
president of the current administration. Many people were against this law because they believe it will only
make the country poorer. TRAIN Law is a burden on poor citizens as their earnings are not enough with the
price increase of basic commodities (Tindig Pilipinas, 2018). It does not consider how taking away a few
pesos from poor and middle-class families through higher taxes is not the same as taking away much more
pesos from very rich families (IBON, 2018). Considering all these statements, the researcher made it the
driving force to conduct study on the effects of TRAIN Law to the micro businesses knowing that most owners
of the micro businesses belong to the poor sector, and to assess whether the statements being mentioned
were true.
METHODOLOGY
The participants of this study were the micro businesses in Purok 7 Barangay Sabang. The
researcher conducted the study in ten different sari-sari stores in the said location. The researcher prepared
survey questionnaire which questioned about the difference of the status of their income before and after the
implementation of TRAIN Law and used survey questionnaire as means of attaining the date to be analyzed.
Survey Question
Increased Steady Decreased
Status of income after the implementation of TRAIN Law.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
After asking the micro businesses about the status of their income, after the implementation of TRAIN
Law, this was the results:
Seven (7) business owners or seventy percent (70%) of the population said that their income
decreased after the implementation of TRAIN Law, one (1) business owner or ten percent (10%) of the
population said that their income increased after the implementation of the law, and two (2) business owners
or twenty percent (20%) of the population said that there was no change in the status of their income.
Based in the data that has been gathered from the survey, seventy percent (70%) said that the
TRAIN Law caused a negative shift to the status of their income, which can be interpreted that the law really
has a negative effect to the income of the poor micro business owners in Purok 7 Barangay Sabang.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded based from the analyzed results that TRAIN Law is a big enemy of the micro
businesses in Purok 7 Barangay Sabang, for instead of bringing positive effects to the micro businesses,
what it brought to them was the negative effect of it.
