Exterior cultural mobility: Canarias Crea

The Canary Islands Government, in collaboration with the CajaCanarias Foundation and the La Caixa
Social Work, has a cultural mobility program aimed at facilitating that the creators of the islands can show
their proposals outside the Archipelago, both in national territory and in any country of the world, whether
in tours, concerts, exhibitions, festivals, fairs and markets, literary presentations, projections, participation
in congresses, forums or multidisciplinary meetings

With a trajectory of more than 15 years, Canarias Crea is a program that tries to compensate for the
enormous difficulties that the Canarian creators face due to the extra cost of working in a territory far from
the Continent, while contributing to the dissemination and promotion of Canarian culture abroad, placing the
Archipelago in both state and international cultural circuits.

The program is managed by the public company Canarias Cultura en Red S.A. and it has a budget of €
374,500 for 2019, which is distributed in an equitable monthly manner, in order to guarantee support for the
programming of activities throughout the year.

Requirements to participate in the Canarias Crea


program:
• Submit the application within a minimum period of 30 days before the travel and start of the
activity.
• Be a Canarian resident and beneficiary of the air transport discount.
• Provide an invitation letter, contract or inscription proving your participation in a cultural
activity outside the Canary Islands.
• Don't be acepted applications for activities that already have a Sponsorship of Canarias Cultura
en Red, nor those of those applicants who, having counted with the help of the Canarias Crea
program, had not submitted the corresponding activity report.
• The program will cover transfers from the Canary Islands to the nearest airport to the town where
the activity will be carried out (and return), either by direct processing of boarding passes or,
depending on the case, the concession of travel bags.

• The support budget per application will have a maximum limit of € 3,000.

Criteria for the assessment of applications:


• Presentation in time and form of the form. The submission of applications will only be accepted
through the program's online form, available on the website www.canariascrea.com
• Only activities with an eminently cultural character, and not festive, will be considered.
• The number of applications supported during the year will be taken into account. Only one
application per applicant / project per month will be approved. In the event that several
displacement requests are received for the same project, they will be jointly assessed within the
maximum budgetary limit established for an application.
• If the applicant has been previously granted aid, it is essential to have presented the justification
of the activity in a timely manner, with the results obtained
• Professional career / C.V. In the assessment, the curriculum of the artist, group or company will
be taken into account. In any case, new or emerging creators and young creators with
international projection will be especially valued.
• Interest and repercussion abroad of the activity or project for which the aid is requested, with
special interest for those who contribute to the tourism promotion of the Canary Islands brand
abroad.
• Balance between budget, interest and impact of the activity. The number of tickets
requested, the adequacy and / or justification of the corresponding professional profiles, the
volume and price of the cargo, or the cost of double insularity will be taken into account. Also, the
number of actuations to be carried out or the temporary duration of the activity.
• Typology and spaces enclave. The characteristics of the spaces that host the projects, the
quality and stability of their programming, capacity and / or types of audiences, etc. will be
assessed.
• Relevance of the festival, fair, show or market attended. Special consideration will be given to
the possible creation or strengthening of collaborative networks and intercultural cooperation, or
the potential for establishing contacts for future projects.
• The company reserves the right to value those projects of significant relevance that do not meet
some of the established requirements, provided they are not exclusive and, as in all cases,
subject to the availability of the program budget.

Considerations

The recipients who have taken part in the Canarias Crea program will collaborate with the dissemination of
the brand through the insertion of their logo in the advertising media of the activity or during the
celebration of the activity, as well as mentioning it in information media or Social Networks.

Once the activity is finished, they must present the corresponding justification of the event or development
of the project, and including a copy of said advertising and communication materials, etc.

Evaluation Commission
The applications submitted are attended and assessed, according to the above criteria, by a commission
formed by five members of the technical staff of the public company Canarias Cultura en Red S.A.
Depending on the characteristics of the activity or project, the commission may request reports from the
different department heads, whether they are visual or visual arts, performing or audiovisual arts, among
others.

In addition, the evaluations carried out also have the approval of the program sponsors, in this case, the
CajaCanarias Foundation and Obra Social La Caixa.

The valuation takes into account the curriculum of the artist, group or company, the number of flights and
volume of the requested load. The projects of young creators with international projection will also be taken
into account, as well as those activities that are of interest for the tourism promotion of the Canary Islands
brand abroad.
