CHAPTER 1
1.1 PROJECT BACKGROUND
Llano High School was built since 1986, It is called Llano High School Deparo
Annex. Llano High School is one of the schools that is located in Caloocan
area. They make a system that can freely use the Wi-Fi for almost 30 minutes,
which can help the students to learn individually using the existing
technology.
The system that the Researches choose is library Management System that
can help the administrator and the librarian to manage their library easily.
They can easily monitor the books, and it’s already categorized.
The subsystem of Library Management System are; Login form for the
security of the system. Admission, student will have a registration form that
needed to fill up and to be able to borrow a book. Identification, information
of students. List of books, a listed book that is already categorized, books that
did not returned by the set of time. Borrowing and Receiving books, this part
the admin will notify when the student borrowed a book/s and when they have
to return it. And last, Printing/output, it contains of books that did not returned
on the day that the students have to.
1.1.1 Problem Opportunity/Description
1.1.1.1 MANUAL PROCESS
One of the main problems of the admin was the manual
process because it can be decelerated the process of managing the
books and maintaining it.
1.1.1.2 UNMONITORED BOOKS
One of the problems of the admin the unmonitored books
because the arrangement of the books is ruined because the books
are not monitored properly.
BESTLINK COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES
1.1.1.3 NOTIFICATION PROBLEM
One of the problems of the admin was that they are not
notified of the book has been not returned by the set of time. Because
of that, the books will be one of the lost books that the school need to
replace. Another scenario that might happen if the admin/s does not
notify is that they would not know who is the student that did not
returned his/her borrowed book/s.
1.1.1.4 UNCATEGORIZED BOOKS
One of the problems of the admin was that the books are not
categorized and it will be difficult to find when they borrow a book and
to return the book.
1.1.1.5 UNMANAGE BOOKS
One of the problems of the admin was that unmanaged books
because it combines the problem of manual process, unmonitored
books, notification problem and uncategorized books.
1.1.2 Benefits
To Llano High school - The Library System of Llano Highschool
will be easily to handle because of the Researchers proposed
system.
To the Researchers -The Researchers now know how to create
and solve some problems and it developed their knowledge and
skills on creating a system.
To the future researchers -The Researchers they can now easily
to create a system that related to this system and they can
conclude an idea because of this research project.
To the Bestlink College of the Philippines - the school will be
recognized because of this research project to the other school.

1.1.3 Goals
1.1.3.1 TO CREATE AN AUTOMATED LIBRARY SYSTEM
The researchers will create an automated system for the quick
process of borrowing and receiving books.
1.1.3.2 TO DEVELOP AN MONITORING FEATURES
The system will have a monitoring features to properly monitor
the books that have been borrowed and returned.
1.1.3.3 TO DEVELOP AN NOTIFICATION FEATURES
The system will have a notification features to notify the
admins what books that have not been returned by the set on time.
1.1.3.4 TODEVELOP AN LIST OF CATEGORY BOOKS
The system will have a list of categories books for the admin
that can be easily understand, and it will have a separated list for the
books that have not been returned by the set of time.
1.1.3.5 TO CREATE A MONITORING, NOTIFICATION, AND LIST
OF BOOKS CATEGORY FEATURES.
The system has monitoring features, notification features, and
list of category books enable to manage the books properly.
1.2 PROJECT SCOPE
1.2.1 Objectives
The objectives of the researchers are manual process, the Researchers had
a solution for this problem and that is to create an Automated System for the
quick process of borrowing books. As for unmonitored books, notification
problem, uncategorized books, and unmanaged books, the system will have
different kind of features to solve these problems.

1.2.3 Out of Scope
Library card - A library card can refer to several cards
traditionally used for the management of books and patrons in
a library. In its most common use, a library card serves similar
functions as a membership card. A person who holds a library
card has borrowing or other privileges associated with the
issuing library. But in our System, we can’t give a library card,
but we can make a login system to know who the person is
going to use.
Barcode - Is much like those for retail merchandise, the
numbering system used to generate barcodes for books is
different. But in our system, we can’t make a barcode from the
book because its hard

Online library system - Creating an online Library system is
one of the most difficult to make, because it has many
processes to do.
1.3 PROJECT PLAN
1.3.1 Approach and Methodology
Figure no. 1.3.1.1 Approach and Methodology
Planning - the researchers planned about how the system will
go on. First, we planned what is design of our system we need to
do? and what is the first thing to do is we start to make a system?
Analysis- after the researchers planned about how the system will
flow, researcher analyse the system, what’s the wrong/hole in the
System. As a Researcher, the Researcher need to analyse our
system so that the flow of our system is good of its function.
Design-the researchers used their creative skills on the design of
the system. The researcher design first the login form then next

another tab and another tab. The researchers need a creative skill
so that the view of the system is pretty good to look at.
Implementation - the researchers tries to execute the program that
have been made.
Maintenance-the researchers checked if there’s any possible
problem.

Copyright Infringement Copyright infringement (colloquially
referred to as piracy) is the use of works protected
by copyright law without permission for a usage where such
permission is required, thereby infringing certain exclusive
rights granted to the copyright holder, such as the right to
reproduce, distribute, display or perform the protected work, or to
make derivative works. The copyright holder is typically the work's
creator, or a publisher or other business to whom copyright has
been assigned. Copyright holders routinely invoke legal and
technological measures to prevent and penalize copyright
infringement.
Plagiarism- is considered academic dishonesty and a breach of
journalistic ethics. It is a subject to functions such as penalties,
suspension, explosion to the school or work, and even
incarceration.
Data Policy Act- The law requires that any entity involved
in data processing and subject to the act must develop, implement
and review procedures for the collection of personal data, obtaining
consent, limiting processing to defined purposes, access
management, providing recourse to data subjects, and
appropriate data retention

Title: The DOST-ESEP Libraries: The First Library Network in The
Philippines
Author: David T Lourdes.
Publication Year: 2012
In developed countries where the computerized library system is a mature
technology, a computerized library network is perhaps no longer a novel project.
In the Philippines however, where the automated library system is available in
only a handful of libraries, The DOST-ESEP Library Network was envisioned to:
1) build library resources and services in eight academic libraries; and 2) provide
connectivity by means of the information highway in the Philippines, the (PHnet),
which is also the country’s gateway to Internet. It was proposed as an integral
component of the Department of Science and Technology - Engineering and
Science Education Project (DOST-ESEP). The DOST-ESEP was designed to
develop manpower, instructional and research capabilities in eight academic
institutions in support of the country’s bid for NIChood by the year 2000.
Implementation of the project was made possible through a loan from the World
Bank and counterpart funds from participating Institutions.

The Philippine government is doing its best to provide the rudiments of basic
schooling to its people for free, and setting education as one of its priority.
Similarly, the 1987 Philippine Constitution provides that public secondary

education must be free [4]. However, the quality of education is being
challenged with crucial problems. Along with other developing country in
Southeast Asia, the Philippines shares many of the same problems and
limitations as those of its fellow developing nations [5]. Reality tells us that even
if the public school teachers are qualified to teach, the lack of instructional
materials, inadequate facilities that students reach up to sixty pupils in a
classroom and lack of training for professional growth hindered them to perform
at their best[4].

Title: Library with web android based OPAC
Author: Q.J pastrana
Year Published: 2015
Technology is a big factor to keep the students keep going to the library. So the
author thinks that the android devices can use to attract the students on going
the libraries. In terms of their device they can easily search or monitor the books
inside the library. Weather the books that they want to borrow on the borrowed
section or it is still available. So on this situation the students will have more fun
on this new library system. Therefore the author used what is the trending
device to make students come to the libraries because their task on searching
books inside the library become faster and faster.

technical functions of library including acquisitions, cataloging, circulation and the
provision of public access. According to E.Valenti(2016) from the article entitled
“The State Of Library Management Systems” are systems that helps big in terms
of some transactions on the library. On this article the automated library systems
said that it can do multi tasking. It can do recording books on library but it can also
make different transactions. It will make the library service convenient like making
card cataloging. Therefore multitasking inside the library is very nice. The system
will be the one who records all the transactions inside the library so it decreases
the tasks of the librarian so it can avoid the cases of lost records due to human
errors.

Author: Chad
Year Published: 2009
According to Chad (2009) consulting is at a major point of change in the wider
information economy within which library system form part of a large whole. He
was writing in abriefing paper about the study in library management system. This
study examined the system used in higher-education libraries across the UK and
came up with some significant observation and recommendation.

Title: Online Library Management System
Author: A.Agarwal
Year Published: 2013
According to A.Agarwal (2013) on the research entitled “Online Library
Management System” The main problem of the different libraries worldwide are
they are still using manual method. So the researcher proposed to make an
automated system that will have better log in form and to record quickly the
borrowed and still existing books. So the librarian or the staffs can monitor every
time the books that carried outside by the students. therefore online library
management system can be use outdoor or even without the school library. You
can access or borrow books using the internet. It will be very convenient and less
time consuming.

library automation as the application of computers and utilization of computer
based products and services in the performance of different operations and
functions or in the provision of various services and output products. In addition to
computer advancement, telecommunication and audio-visual technologies gives
