ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT
Activity Title: ASEAN MONTH CELEBRATION 2019
In August 8, 1967, five countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and
Singapore established the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Bangkok,
Thailand. Later on Brunei Darussalam joined on 8 January 1984, Vietnam on 28 July 1995, Laos
and Myanmar on 23 July 1997 and Cambodia on 30 April 1999. ASEAN’s goals are to accelerate
the economic growth of ASEAN countries, to promote social progress and cultural development
in the region through joint endeavors, to promote regional peace and stability through abiding
respect for justice and the rule of law. It also aims to maintain close and beneficial cooperation
with existing international and regional organizations. ASEAN’s motto is “ONE VISION, ONE
IDENTITY, ONE COMMUNITY.” As one of ASEAN country, this celebration is an opportunity
so that our students will be able to understand the importance of ASEAN in our country.
Pursuant to Presudential Proclamation No. 282, s. 2017 which declares the month of
August of every year as “ ASEAN Month”. The school event aims to promote and heighten the
awareness of the ASEAN, and instill in the minds of the Filipino students the importance, value
and meaning of ASEAN in achieving and maintaining regional peace and sustainable
development. In promoting public awareness in the observance of this event, the Department of
Education extend their full support through the following activities: (a) display of ASEAN flag for
the whole month of August and (b) conduct activities that provide basic knowledge about ASEAN
as an organization and how it delivers concrete benefits to the public.
School head message
The students and teachers commemoration of ASEAN Month Celebration 2019 started
at exactly 8:00 AM in the morning, August 13, 2019. The program was led by Mrs. Corazon V.
Eugenio, Master Teacher I and SPG adviser and Mrs. Roselle V. Linsangan, SSG adviser. It was
started with the salute to the flag conducted by Nelia D. Diaz, SSG President followed by an
opening prayer led by Jessie San Pedro, Grade 10 student.
The school head, Mr. Jonathan D. Diaz gave a statement of purpose of the programs – to discuss
the importance of the ASEAN month celebration in our country; to ensure that every students will
be able to understand the reason on celebrating it; and to make students familiarize with the
countries in ASEAN.
Afterwards, Mr. Dionisio, Teacher III played the ASEAN song that sung by BIS Students loudly
and full of heart. A short trivia was given by Mrs. Roselle V. Linsangan about ASEAN wherein
students participated actively.
The SSG officers do a simultaneously classroom – based discussion on the history and importance
of the ASEAN month celebration. After the discussion, they do a short quiz wherein students who
answered correctly was given a reward. During the afternoon class, all Araling Panlipunan and
EsP teachers do the flag – making activity wherein it aims to familiarize students with the countries
which are ASEAN members.
Each students showed enjoyment and fun in each test despite tiresome activities.
