I. MOTORBUS COMPANY: Que Sera Sera
II. Time Context
The company will be fielding an additional 50 buses in a month so Engr. Hermogenes
Ancheta should settle all misfits and do a recommended action plan within 30 days. The
timeline that Engr. Ancheta that will get must have a perfect decision, so he can provide a
perfect solution. Indeed this problem needs a lot of analyzation.
III. Viewpoint
This study should be observed in the perspective of Engr. Ancheta. His situation is very
critical since he carries the Maintenance Department on his shoulders. Therefore the
researcher must understand Mr. Ancheta side to create a good solutions and
recommendations, offer the proper distinct and a proper plan of action
IV. Statement of the Problem
The MOTORBUS COMPANY: Que Sera Sera (means “What will be. Will be”) is a
route of bus from Mania into Isabela. Engr. Ancheta has just received his appointment
papers from his new immediate superior, the Vice-President for Operations, he has been
promoted from Assistant Manager of the Maintenance Department. After congratulating
him from his promotion, the boss was gave him a verbal directive that he should put
some orders on his department and make it work in the effective an d efficient manner as
possible. Engr. Ancheta just passed the board examination on Mechanical Engineering
when he joined on the company in 1993, In June 1995, he informed his former classmates
that he has promoted as Assistant Manager for Maintenance then he was promoted again
into Manager when Engineer Gaudencio Inductivo, who in turn to be at 62 years old.
After the approval from VP for operations, the next day after the approval of the

retirement of Engineer Inductivo, Enginner Ancheta received hia appointment papers on
promoting him as Manager. When Engr. Ancheta starts his duty, by the time, he inspects
the storage room and he found the uneven supply of parts. Some parts are excessive
quantities and some important one are inadequately stocked and the corner room contains
a big volume of obsolete parts.
The problem is how Engr. Ancheta will handle the operation while he’s new on his job as
Manager. While there are 50 more buses will added in the route for 100 buses will
servicing the various routes assigned to Motorbus Company.
V. Areas of Consideration
Engr. Ancheta as a Mechanical Engineering graduate then he work on Motorbus
Company as Assistant Manager of Maintenance Department. On 1993, when he joined in
the company, he passed the board exam for Mechanical Engineering. Then in 1995, he
informed his former classmates that he was promoted as Assistance Manager for
Maintenance. The former manager of the Department Engr. Inductivo, joined the
company since it stated the operations in 1989. A total of ten buses began plying the
Manila-Isabela route. The maintenance unit was put up the Manila in Sampaloc. Another
unit serves the Ilagan and Isabela terminal. Each unit has a full-time mechanic and a
single assistant. When a company bus comes in for repair, the mechanic diagnoses the
various automotive systems in the bus and later produces a list of parts that needs a
replacement. The mechanic sends the list to Engr. Inductivo, who in turn, forwards the
same to the company accountant for approval for the approval of the purchase request.
There are times that Engr. Inductivo performs the actual purchasing himself then later he
just sends the purchased items to the mechanic who made the request. The maintenance

units were operating until 40 new buses were procured by the company in 1993. Since
then, every maintenance unit was so busy that they threatened to quit their jobs unless
additional mechanics and assistants were recruited. In the end of 1993, each unit has a
personal complement of 5 mechanics and assistants, but with the current developments,
the old method of purchasing was not improved. Purchase request started to embroiled,
the file endorsed becomes discreet. Mechanic and drivers began complaining to the VP of
Operations about the delays in the delivery of needed parts. Engineer Inductivo already
sent a note into the VP of operations that the problems must be solved immediately. In
the next day Engr. Inductivo was informed the VP for Operations that he will request a
approval for his application on retirement because he’s already 62 years old. The VP
forwarded the request to the President with an endorsing justifying the request. On the
same day, the approval was approved then after that, Engineer Ancheta received his
appointment papers promoting him to Manager. During his first appointment at Manager,
the first thing that he do was to inspect the storage room for parts then he found out that
the room was full of uneven supply. Some parts were of excessive quantities, while the
important ones were inadequately stocked. A corner of the room contains a big volume of
obsolete parts. At the end of the day, Engineer Ancheta was the VP of the company will
add new buses within 30 days, this means that next month that will be 100 buses that will
servicing the various routes assigned to Motorbus Company. Now Engineer Ancheta is
mulling over how he will make the operations of his department as efficient and effective
as possible.

The areas of consideration are the ongoing disagreement with the maintenance personnel,
the old system of purchasing applied in the company and the bunch of problems about the
inventory of parts.
VI. Alternative Courses of Action
Since Engineer Ancheta just new on his job as appointed manager, he must prioritize on
focusing in the operations of the company to be adequate enough to work with it
efficiently and more effective bus servicing through the Philippines. As a manager, he
must need to know the employee under supervision like mechanic and assistant that they
might work with no other reasons for them to give their support to the company. This is
just giving him the idea that he need a better employee which has no other alternatives
just to work with the company with their full time basis. For that reason they may work
efficiently if they work together in helping each other in the company to support their
needs to have a better foundation of Motorbus business infrastructure. One effective way
to make sure that the bus will do a better service in travelling back to back to its
destinations is a conducting an additional training for the new employees . “What will be,
will be”, if they focus on that platform on their company, the determination of continuous
force on the job will improve.
VII. Conclusion
The business shown an increase in terms of numbers of buses and same as usual with the
profit they will also gain a better that what they had recently when Engineer Inductivo’s
in charge with the Management of the Motorbus Company. When Engineer Ancheta is
appointed as a new Manager, he’s now on his way to make a decision like a real boss of
the company, for that case his order is the way that the President of Operations will be

respected. For the President knew that he is an honest manager to be appointed to handle
the operations pertaining with the Maintenance Department.
VIII. Recommendations
Furthermore, I recommend that they need another hired new employee since adding 40
new buses to be added to the Motorbus company assigned route. No one should be able
to quit, that as a result of a good performance in a part of a workforce he must convince
his employee under his supervision.
IX. Plan of Action
The first step for Engr. Ancheta is to set up a meeting on his department. In this meeting,
He will lay all of his proposition of the problems present in the department. To settle the
dispute on maintenance personnel, Engr. Ancheta must hire additional personnel and staff
since the company needs more manpower in 30 days. For the improvement of the old
method of purchasing, Engr. Ancheta must influence his sons to help him in the
company.
Lastly, to fix issues on the company, Engr. Ancheta must perform an inventory, If there
isn’t enough supply, the department must list all of the inadequate tools, if there is an
excess, there is a choice that they need to put it in the stock room or the department can
sell it into the retailers. For the obsolete parts, they must sold it in the junk shops.
