Configure Folder Redirection

This document provides steps to configure folder redirection in Windows 2008 using Group Policy. The steps are: 1) Open the Group Policy Management console, create a new GPO called "Folder Redirection", and edit it; 2) Configure redirection properties for the AppData folder to create a folder for each user in the target location; 3) Repeat for other folders and set the root path as the DFS redirection folder; 4) Link the Folder Redirection GPO to the appropriate OUs.

Step by Step

Open Group Policy Management MMC

Right click Group Policy Objects and click New

Name = Folder Redirection and click OK

Right click Folder Redirection and click Edit

Right click Appdata(Roaming) and click Properties

Use Basic setting and select Create a folder for each user as Target folder location

Root Path is the Redirection folder of the DFS structure

Click OK

Do the same for the other items

Close the window

Right click ARN Endusers OU and click Link an existing GPO and select Folder
Redirection GPO
Do the same for the HGV Endusers GPO
