ADVANCE SERVICE ROBOT FOR HUMAN ASSISTANCE
ABSTRACT:
One of fundamental issues for service robots is human–robot interaction. In order to perform such a task and
provide the desired services, these robots need to detect and track people in the surroundings. The proposed
system is based in two main components: a) mobile devices, like mobile phones, that users carry with them,
b) a set of mobile robots to assist supermarket users. In this paper we present a shopping assistant system to
be used in supermarkets, primarily for helping handicapped or elderly people for carrying a big load in hand.
An architecture is presented which blends Radio frequency identification (RFID) and wireless technology to
provide on spot billing in super markets. It uses the RFID based system application in the shopping
conveyor and the RFID card which is used as a security access for the product. The computer system is fixed
to the conveyor displays the product name, cost and the total cost of all purchased products. The bill is
transmitted to the server end through the LIFI technology.

INTRODUCTION:
Most robots were used in industrial and military use but intelligent robots for general daily use is yet to be
implemented. Human-Following Robot (HFR) is one of the applications that could be implemented under
robot technology. Because of its human following capability, HFRs can work as assistants for humans in
various situations and it can also acquire or monitor certain information associated with the human
subject.Smart shopping cart with automatic billing system through RFID and Lifi. This paper provides
centralized and automated billing system using RFID and Lifi communication. Each product of shopping
mall, super markets will be provided with a RFID tag, to identify its type. Each shopping cart is designed are
implemented with the product identification device that contains micro controller, LCD, an RFID reader and
Lifi module purchasing product information will be read through a RFID reader on shopping cart,
meanwhile product information will be stored into EEPROM attached to it and EEPROM data will be send
to central billing system gets the cart information. It access the product database and calculates the total
amount ofpurchasing for that particular cart.
OBJECTIVE:
The proposed system is based in three main components:
a) mobile devices, like mobile phones, that users carry with them,
b) a set of mobile robots to assist supermarket users,
c) the robotic assistant.
This system will allow users to keep control in robot by communication with the robot, the robot will help the
customer by handling all the product. In this work is also shown the acceptability studies for this kind of robot. An
RFID system primarily comprises of RFID Tags, RFID Reader, Middleware and a Backend database. RFID
Tags are uniquely and universally identified by an identification sequence, governed by the rubrics of
EPCglobal Tag Data Standard. A tag can either be passively activated by an RFID reader or it can actively
transmit RF signals to the reader. The RFID reader, through its antenna, reads the information stored on
these tags. Li-Fi is a new emerging technology in trend,it provides transmission of data.
METHODOLOGY:
Section 1:
Ultrasonic sensor: - It is used to sense the obstacle and the distance between them and it is also used to sense
the distance between the cart and the human whom he should need to follow.
Arduino Microcontroller: - It is the brain of our project. It can give all the command to their sub ordinate
components which should by operated by the human behaviour, and it also give feedback to the other
components and human. So that it can be the used as a medium of communication between human and
robots & vice versa.
DC Motor Driver: This can control 2 DC Motors, their direction using control lines and their speed using
PWM.
DC Motor: - Here 4 DC motor are used to drive the cart. Where two are normally in working mode and
other two are used in standby mode. The purpose of providing a standby is used as back also. And is it used
when the carts is overloaded.
Section 2
RFID -RFID is short for Radio Frequency Identification. Generally a RFID system consists of 2 parts. A
Reader, and one or more Transponders, also known as Tags. RFID systems evolved from barcode labels as a
means to automatically identify and track products and people.
LIFI-Li-Fi is a new emerging technology in trend. It provides transmission of data through illumination by
sending data through an LED light bulb that varies in intensity faster than the human eye can follow. Li-Fi is
ideal for high density wireless data coverage in confined area and for relieving radio interference issues. Li-
Fi provides better bandwidth, efficiency, availability and security than Wi-Fi and has already achieved
blisteringly high speed.
LCD display:LCD Display used is 20*4. It is used for displaying product name and cost.
Computer system: Both LIFI transmitter and receiver will be brought to line of sight, data is transferred and
the products details and cost is shown and billing is done.
ALGORITHM:

Algorithm
following algorithm by using the Bluetooth control method.
Interrupt method is used for the following algorithm.
The polling method is used for the RFID reader algorithm, Bluetooth connection algorithm and obstacle
avoidance algorithm.
The differential wheeled drive method is applied in the robot mechanism
i. Start the process
ii. Initialize the system
iii. Connect the trolley through Bluetooth
iv. Scan an item in (RFID tags) Products
v. Check the (RFID tags) Products
vi. If the tag is scanned, RFID reader can read the data related from memory Ex: like cost, quantity, amount
vii. Display the data and cost with help of LCD
viii. Trolley start moving according to Bluetooth direction
ix. The item is added automatically the item cost also add and produce the total cost
x. If any item is removed, the total cost is subtracted by the particular removed item and again the process
will be continuing
xi. Send the total amount in the billing system
xii. Print the bill
xiii. The process is end.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
A successful implementation of a human follower robot is illustrated in this paper. This robot does not only
have the detection capability but also the tracking and following ability as well. The tracking is basically
performed on the Bluetooth connectivity and the human is followed on the basis of that detection. This
project creates an automated billing system for super market and mall using the Arduino and RFID. Every
field depending the automation for all work, in our project we implemented the automation for RFID
scanning with billing system. Based on that we avoided the waiting time for billing and more over we don’t
need to use more worker in billing section. Our system takes less time for the scanning comparing to hand
held method.
