Mixed Conditionals Exercise

This grammar exercise tests your understanding of conditional sentences. Conditional


clauses express a condition – something that must happen first so that something else can
happen.

Fill in the blanks with an appropriate verb form.

1. If I don't drink tea in the morning, I ............................. sleepy.

We can use the zero or first conditional here because we are talking about a real and possible
situation. In the zero conditional, we use a simple present tense in both clauses and in the
first conditional, we use a simple present tense in the if-clause and will + infinitive in the
result clause.

In the second conditional, we use a simple past tense in the if-clause and would + infinitive in
the main clause.
