Ever since I started taking more photos, not with a DSLR camera specifically, but with my old phone which I
used mainly for casual snapshots of things I see, this has changed over the years as my passion for
photography grew. My camera quality has improved to the point where I now own my own Canon EOS 750D
camera that I now currently use for my photography. I have been told that I have a good eye for photography.
I didn’t think anything of it, I never thought that any of the photos I took where anything special. However,
when I started doing my GCSE’s I decided that I would take photography as a course. Why not? I’ve clearly got
a good eye for this, why not try it and see how I find it. Doing this meant that I could find out and learn more
about photography, doing this I was also then told that I have a good eye for photography, again. This then
made me think that I should consider this as a career. As this course went on my knowledge and
understanding of a camera grew and grew. One of the reasons why I have a passion for photography is
because of the people I see and follow on social media, for example ‘Harry Gallagher’ is a photographer who
focus’ his work on night photography and urban areas. The reason why I like his work is because I like the way
he contrasts the light and dark of a city and the way he showcases all these unique areas. From doing
photography as a GCSE I had a small understanding of techniques that are mentioned and how to effectively
use them in my work, so then this meant that I was a little more understanding than some others in class as
they might not have done this before.

My life hasn’t been all about photography but has also been about work. I work at Laser quest Bournemouth
as a part time worker, which is where I did my year 10 work experience and they said that I did such a good job
that they wanted me to stay on. So, I took the job so that I could then earn a bit more money for myself, it
started off as just a summer job but I thought, why stop here? I then kept the job going and am still there now.
The job can sometimes get stressful as we can have up to 80 people in a small room all at the same time but
when my colleagues and I work together we get it under control and make sure that they all have the best
time that they can and have the experience that they have paid for. However, I am constantly told by my
manager and colleagues that I have done an amazing job and that they are lucky to have me as part of the
team. Yes, this may seem big headed, but I like to think that I am the best part timer of the lot. This is because
I don’t just do the bare minimum but I try and go above expectation. An example of when I have gone and
done this could be when there was a birthday party in and the mum was a bit paranoid on if all of the kids
would come, so I said that if they don’t all come then it isn’t a problem because they can fill some of the
spaces with the other parents if they wanted to play. When the party was playing the games, I took it on for
myself to make sure that she was ok and that all the kids were having a great time and that if she had any
problems to come find me and I would help in any way that I could. Once the party was all over and done with
the mum came and found me and personally thanked me for being so nice and helpful, I said that it was
nothing and that if they ever come again just come and ask for me. My job allows me to learn new skills and
experience what it is like in a workplace and I think that if I work really hard at this job and then get a really
good word in for my CV then I can get a better job easier because the company I am interviewing for can see
what I am good at. This may consist of being able to overcome any problem I may have, able to work alone or
in a group, able to help anyone with any problems or questions they have while being polite and as helpful as I
can; even when the customer isn’t happy with something I keep my cool and help them and sort out the thing
that they are not happy about.
