leakage current Isolation. Describe equipment which will meet these requirements, and
show in each case how the regulation will be satisfied.

(b) Design a full-wave rectifier to supply 12Vdc / 60W from an 110V supply, identifying all
the components used giving their function and specification.

QUESTION NO. 2.0

(a) Explain the reasons for the use of high voltage transmission in power distribution and
methods of stepping up and down the voltage at the supply and at the consumer’s
premises

(b) Using suitable diagrams explain the principle of generating and transmitting electrical
energy in Jamaica, giving typical voltage values at the generation, transmission and
distribution stages.

Describe, with sketches, all of the following:

(i) Broad base receptacle.

(ii) 110V/15 A convenience outlet 3-pin.
(iii) 8-way 2 phase panel.
