A: We use a monitoring system in some borders and Manuel processing for others

Do they use batch or interactive data collection and processing?

A: We use interactive data

How is the data provided to Immigration and customs?

A: The data is provided some electronically and others by hard copies

What is the prescribed format and order?

A: The statistics are taken from Borders to be compelled in the Immigration HQ

What is the order of the data format?

A: We need more explanations to be understandable

What is time duration the data is received?

A: We can get is monthly and by year and where ever there is need.

How is the present system connected with Interpol and other watch agencies?

A: We have a plan to do it but currently no connation to Interpol

How is the data collected or received from non-schedule air operators who are not automated?

A: Immigration works closely with Burundi Aeronautics Company which is connected to the air
operators

Which are the agencies they are connected with?

A: Kenya air ways, Ethiopian airlines, Brussels, Tanzania airline, Uganda Airline, etc….

In what form is the data received and stored?

A: Soft copies and hard copies if there are need to be printed

The received data is shared with how many agencies?

A: Immigration and Burundi Aeronautic company

How the past records are stored and for how long is it required to store?

A: In Soft copies and hard copies

Which are other countries immigration and customs they are connected with?

A: In Burundi Immigration and customs work together but not with the same systems
What are the list of documents required for obtaining the visa prior to arrival, on arrival and what are
the documents and information needed for visa waiver?

A: documents required for obtaining the visa prior to arrival

A: The list is done according to bilateral agreement, it can change

A: No idea

A: payment methodology currently used is deposit cash at the Embassy, Airport or borders posts

In the future, payment should be made online

Do they need interactive or batch method APIS?

A: It should be interactive

What is the plan and how early is the passenger data is required for vetting?

A: As soon as possible according to the availability of the budget

Do they need data of passengers on transit also?

A: Yes

Will they enable connection for us to Interpol and other watch agencies?

A: It can be better to be connected so that we can improve the security issues

A: Need more explanations to answer

A: - Statistics of exit and entry travelers

Do they have any smart card option for frequent travelers?

A: Not yet, they use travel documents

A: Electronically and physically as hard copies


How many levels of data verification is needed for suspect list and how, who can override and what is
the conditions for the same?

A: From Airport, ports or borders to the immigration HQ

How is the suspect cross verified and cleared?

A: With discussions in the office of in charge at the border, ports or Airport

What is the backup option currently available in case of infra or system failure?

A: the backup option should be located out of the Office to be more secured

Where will the primary data servers kept, secondary and backup servers kept?

A: We can discuss physically how we can organize to improve the existing

Are all the passports machine readable issued in the country?

A: We use electronics passports in Burundi

How do they handle non machine readable passports?

A: All travel documents used in Burundi are readable

Is biometric data collection done and what are biometric data collected?

A: Photo, Finger print and electronic signature

How biometric data cross is verified?

A: Some of the borders use passport readers

How will they share the current list or data of the local nationals who are in watch list?

A: When Immigration will be full computerized, the data of watch list will be saved in the main server
at Bujumbura immigration hq office and extend to the Airport, ports and borders connected to hq.

How do they add a new person in the lookout or watch list?

A: the new person will be added from Immigration HQ

Hos is the lists of passengers for closer investigation, statistical reports, performance evaluations, etc.

A:Where there is internet or connectivity data is exchanged electronically.

Description of the current passenger processing environment is needed and we need a narrative and
diagrammatic description of the current flow of passengers through the airport, it should identify any
areas of difficulty and any actual or potential bottlenecks. Current times taken for passenger processing
(Minimum, maximum and average) is needed.

A: We need a system using passport Reader, fingerprint and camera witch can detect the good travel
document and the fault one.
This system will be connected to the borders, ports and Airport and many decisions from the chief of
immigration will be done electronically to facilitate free movement of persons, to secure borders

What is the current ground handler system and do they have machine readable travel document
option?

A: We are in advance, all travel documents are machine readable documents.

How are they sending the APIS to other destinations now from their airports?

A: They use e-mail
