PREFACE
Education is considered to be the most universal path to social inclusion and social
integration. It is viewed as the mechanism which gives each person opportunities for gaining
vital knowledge and skills for becoming part of the society and for professional and social
adaptation. Access to education, despite the social status, race, ethnic origin, sex, or religion
background is considered a major acquisition of modern societies around the globe and a
criterion for social development.

Considering the importance of education and the school, as the main institution that
provides it, in compliance with social needs and personal expectation, school management
becomes a significant issue and a major field of research. Providing quality education is a
question becoming more and more important in contemporary society and the management of
educational system and the school itself are of a great concern for all authorities.

This report shows evaluation of various academic functions of Jagriti Secondary School,
Jamli (M.P.). The evaluation stands for a structured process of collecting, analyzing and interpreting
students’ progress and achievement both in curricular and non-curricular areas. It involves taking
into consideration factors like the content, classroom processes and the growth of individual learners
along with the appropriateness of the evaluation procedures. Assessment is also a means to provide
constant feedback to the learner to make the course effective.

Executive Summary: This report contains the study and evaluation of various Academic
Functions of Non-Government School: Jagriti Secondary School, Jamli”. The aim of this report is
to understand the major functioning areas of School, evaluation of current academic performance
& identification of improvement areas.

For this report data collection is done mostly from direct interactions with concerning teachers;
other method used is method of observation.

For data analysis and visualization various tables and charts are made with the academic data such
as: Performance of students in academics, Students to teacher ratio, Teacher’s qualification and
experience data.

In later part of the report various School initiative for Student engagement are also discussed
which include: Learn by Flow, Central & State govt. schemes for student support, Annual Day
celebration activity & Student Mapping.

The school has good basic infrastructure, Economical viability & experienced & qualified teachers
but needs improvement in areas academics, E-learning tools, parent’s teacher engagement
activities etc. The initiative such as Learn by Flow, Learn by Fun should be more encouraged and
focus on practical linkage between theory to real world usage should be taught for better
understanding.

Indore district in Madhya Pradesh. It is established in Year 1984. It is situated at approx. 32 Km
from Indore district.

internship period:

The following assignments were undertaken in the period of summer internship at Jagriti
Secondary School, Jamli:

 Collections of Academic data of all the classes i.e. KG 1 to 8th to evaluate the performance.
 Collections of School Management related data i.e. Student to teacher ratio, Academic
qualifications of teachers.
 Assessment techniques used for evaluating Scholastic and Co- Scholastic performances.
 Activities held other than classroom teachings for student’s engagement and learning.
 Awareness about various government initiatives such as: Scholarships (for ST, ST, OBC &
Economically backwards students), RTE, Sarva shiksha abhiyan.

Data Collection Methodology:

1) Data Source: The data collections was done mostly by primary methods by direct
interviews & interactions with school authorities. The other method involved was method
of observations.
2) Sampling Area: Sampling area for this data collection was Jagriti Secondary School, Jamli.
3) Method of Contact: The method of contact was personal & direct.

2) School Management: Performance of School can be measured by how professional
and efficient its school Management is. The students spent majority of their days’ time in school
apart from home. Teachers are important aspect in this regard for any academic institution. These
are the people who mould students’ life for future. Their academic qualification & experiences is
very important in this aspect.

3) Activities for engaging students:
1) Learn by Flow: It is a teaching system that creates acceleration of flow of inspiration.
During its four-step process, players and play become harmoniously united. Flow learning
generates a strong flow of intense interest in the subject. Because the full cooperation of
their will is engaged, students are able to experience new vistas of learning.

The above diagram suggests that to be in the state of “Flow” the tasks should be both challenging
and of requiring high Skill level. This type of activity keep you self-motivated to complete the task
till the end. Various activities were arranged such as Yoga, Running, and Painting etc. every week to
induce flow characteristic in students.

2) Scholarship Schemes: The government sponsored Scholarship schemes are another way
to ensure the school participation of Economically weak and Backwards students.

Both Central and State governments offers various scholarships to students.


Some of this are below which were also available to the students of Jagriti Secondary School.

3) Annual Day: It is organized in December every year involving


various Cultural, Sports, and Literature activities for students.
It provides a platform for the students to showcase their talents
and urges the teachers to put their best. This functions helps in
students boost their Creativity & Confidence.

4) Student Mapping: It is the activity of updating student information of MP Government


portal http://shikshaportal.mp.gov.in . In this activity school is required to upload the
information of all the students with the help of User ID and Password provided to them by BRCC.
This portal is single step solution for both schools and students to find the progress of various
govt. activities.
Some benefits of this mapping process are listed below:
 Providing information and benefits of all scholarships on the same platform to the
beneficiaries as much as possible.
 Simplification of rules and procedure.
 There will be no need for all the beneficiaries to make separate applications through
the said scheme, so that all the eligible beneficiaries will get maximum benefit.
 Payment is received directly to the beneficiary's bank account

Findings/Suggestions for School:

1) Encourage activities such as Learn by flow and Learn by fun for students to improve their
attendance in the school. This may also lead to their overall development.
2) Use of E-learning tools, visuals aids for better and physical understanding of students.
3) Conduct monthly parent teacher meeting to give feedback about students’ progress to
parents.
4) Conduct of tours of recreation sites and educations sites for better teacher and student
engagement.
5) Focus on strong fundamental subjects: MATHEMATICS & SCIENCE with practical
applications in real world scenario for better understanding,
6) Information about non-academic opportunities for students in area of sports and
encouragement regarding the same.
7) Focus on building strong fundamentals instead of encouraging cramming habits.

Conclusion: The academics functions of Jagriti Seondary School, Jamli were evaluated on
various parameter during this 2 month internship period from 20th May 2019 to 20th July 2019. The
academic performance for KG 1 to 5th std is Good with 56.71% students scoring I Division & for
6th to 8th std is average with 33.85% students scoring in I Division. The qualifications and experiences
of Teachers are at satisfactory levels. Various student engagements activities are conducted in school
to motivate & encourage students for better performance. Some areas such as inclusion of E-
learning and involvement of parents in progress of students are needed to be strengthened.
