because he can easily make other people

popular and idolized artists who receive
praises and even discrimination. Now class

That`s right! What do you think is our lesson
for today?
Adjectives sir!
Class our topic for today is all about
adjectives and its degree of comparison.

C. DISCUSSION

What is adjective class?

Sir adjective is a word that describes a noun
or a pronoun.
Class, let`s have another activity. We will
play the “30 Seconds Challenge”. You will
have your partner and that is your seatmate.
One of you will provide a “noun” and one of
you will give an “adjective” that would simply
describe the noun provided by your partner
as many as you can in 30 seconds.
Understood class?
For example, the noun is ‘dog’ the possible
adjective is ‘ furry’.

Okay let`s play the “30 Seconds Challenge”

starting with partner number 3. Your timer
starts now!
Bag- expensive
Lion- brave
Teeth- white
Hand- smooth
Hair- long
Times up! Very good you have provided five
examples and it is all correct. I can say that
you really know what is a noun and an
adjective. Right class?
Yes sir
Expect another partner later to play the “30
Seconds Challenge” you should be ready.

To continue our discussion. Adjectives

describe nouns by giving some pieces of
information.
Examples for this definition are:
 It's a big table. (size)

 It's a round table. (shape)

 It's an old table. (age)
 It's a brown table. (color)
 It's an English table. (origin)
 It's a wooden table. (material)
Who wants to give an example under this
definition choose among this information
(size, shape, age, color, origin or material)?
Sir, “I got a small pen”. Small is a size which
is adjective is the adjective and it describe
the pen.
Very well said. Who else wants to give an
example?
Sir, “My phone is black”.
Very good. Another definition is that
adjectives are words that describe the
qualities or states of being of nouns. They
can also describe the quantity of nouns

Examples:
Furry dogs may overheat in the
summertime.
My cake should have sixteen candles.
The scariest villain of all time is Darth
Vader.

Anyone of you who wants to give an

example?
Sir, “Kathryn Bernardo is the sexiest actress
for me”.
Very good, well I agree to that because she
is my idol and she is working hard to have
such well-shaped body.
Who else who wants to give an example?
Sir, “My parents are hardworking”
Very good, I think all parents are
hardworking because they are loving and
caring parents to their children and parents
always want the best for them. Am I right
class?
Yes sir

Here we go again for the “30 Seconds

Challenge). May I call on partner 7 to come
up in front and do the challenge. You timer
starts now!
Bulb- bright
Daniel- handsome
School- exclusive
Bus- long
Table- messy
Slippers - dirty
Very good! You got six correct examples. I
know that the next partners will give us more
examples later.

Now class, in adjectives we also have the

Degrees of Comparison which are
absolute, comparative, and superlative.

First is the absolute degree meaning an

adjective makes no comparison or it simply
describes.
Example:
 A tall building.
 She runs fast.
 This is a beautiful car.

Second is the comparative degree meaning

compares two people, things, actives or
qualities. So let’s take the examples earlier,
how will you make it a comparative.
Anyone?
Sir
 A taller building than this one.
 She runs faster than I do.
 This car is more beautiful than yours.
Very good. In here, you will simply compare
two things.

Next is the superlative degree compares a

person, thing, activity or quality with the
group. So let’s take the examples given
earlier and you will make it in a superlative
form. Anyone who would like to give a try?
Sir
 The tallest building in the town.
 She is the fastest runner among the
students.
 This is the most beautiful car I have
Very good, Superlative adjectives indicate ever seen
that something has the highest degree of
the quality in question. Understood class?
Yes sir.
May I call on partners number 9 to do the
“30 Seconds Challenge “You timer starts
now!
Cellphone- big
Carpet- red
Clock-round
Ring- expensive
Chair- heavy
Socks- odorous
Wallet- elongated
Book- substantial
Very good! You have provided 8 examples.
I can see that you are really taking this
activity serious.

Now, let’s tackle the different Types of

Adjectives. We have descriptive,
quantitative, demonstrative, possessive and
interrogative

First, Descriptive adjectives describe the

characteristics of a noun. They can tell you
about a noun’s size, color, shape, taste, and
more.

Example: “The large, yellow house is on

the corner.” Here large and yellow are
descriptive adjectives that describe the
house.

Who would like to give an example?

Sir, “The beautiful flowers have
a nice smell” gives us a lot more
Very good, in your example it gives us a lot information, with two descriptive adjectives.
more information, with two descriptive
adjectives.

Second, Quantitative adjectives describe

the exact or approximate amount of a noun.
In other words, they answer the question
“how much?” or “how many?”

For example: “There are five boys in her

class.” In this case, five is a numeral
adjective that describes the number of boys.
Understood class?

Who can give an example? Yes sir

Sir, “I can’t believe I ate that whole cake!”
Very good, so it answers, “ how much did
you eat”

Third, Demonstrative adjective describes

“which one” noun or pronoun you’re
referring to. These adjectives include the
words:

 This — Used to refer to a singular noun

close to you.
 That — Used to refer to a singular noun far
from you.
 These — Used to refer to a plural noun
close to you.
 Those — Used to refer to a plural noun far
from you.

So who would like to give an example?
Sir, “This bicycle is mine, and that one used
to be mine until I sold it.”
Very good, it answer the question “Which
bicycle is yours?”.

Fourth, Possessive adjectives show

possession. They describe to whom a
thing belongs. Some of the most common
possessive adjectives include:

 My — Belonging to me
 His — Belonging to him
 Her — Belonging to her
 Their — Belonging to them
 Your — Belonging to you
 Our — Belonging to us

Who would like to give an example?

Very good, remember that it Sir, “her books are interesting”.

indicates possession or ownership

Fifth, Interrogative adjectives interrogate,

meaning that they ask a question. These
adjectives are always followed by a noun or
a pronoun, and are used to form questions.
The interrogative adjectives are:

 Which — Asks to make a choice between

options.
 What — Asks to make a choice (in general).
 Whose — Asks who something belongs to.

Who would like to give an example?
Sir, Which song will you play on your
wedding day?”
Very good, remember that
which, what and whose are only considered
adjectives if they’re immediately followed by
a noun. The word which is an adjective in
this sentence: “Which color is your
favorite?” But not in this one: “Which is your
favorite color?” Understood class?
Yes sir.

D. GENERALIZATION

Class, Kindly tell me what is all about our

discussion for today?
Sir, it is all about adjectives, its degrees of
comparison and types of adjectives.
Adjectives describe nouns by giving some
piece of information. We also have
absolute/positive, comparative and
superlative degrees of comparison. Also,
descriptive, possessive, quantitative,
interrogative ad demonstrative adjective.
Very good, and each of it has its own use.
Don’t forget that adjectives are being used
anytime and anywhere. You students
should be careful and assure that in your
everyday conversation or even in your
paper works you are using the proper
adjectives. Understood class?
Yes sir

E. VALUING

Class, I have here your beautiful pictures.

Now, you will pick one picture and at the
back of that picture you are going to
describe him/her. I will ask some of you to
share what they have written for you.
Understood class?
Yes sir
Anyone who would like to share?
Sir this picture is no other than (name of a
student). All I can say is, he is an active
student, he is a very good dancer and he is
my best friend. ( ) my friend, I’m looking
forward for our journey as a dedicated
student and together let’s make our dreams
come true.
Very good, very wonderful message. I hope
that you both will still be friends whatever
happens.

Class, we all have that characteristics or

attributes that leave marks to the people
surround us. Most of the time, we are being
remembered because we have done a
mistake. But little did they know, there are
many things they still don’t know and that is
the good things we do everyday. We
describe people based on their physical
appearance and maybe in their background
and that doesn’t make us famous rather a
stupid. Yes, no one is perfect but everyone
deserves to be respected and it will start
with you. Know how to respect and
unconsciously people will respect you as
well. Class can you do this? Or will you show
this attitude towards others?
Yes sir.

With that class, this ends our discussion. I

hope you learn something for me because I
have learned many things because of you.
Have a good day and let’s pray for
everyone’s success.
Yes sir. We will

F. EVALUATION

Class, you will be grouped into 4 and assign

each member a number. Each member will
have the opportunity to write on the board. I
will say the number and the person assigned
to that number will come in front. I will give
you the category and you will provide an
example of such category and you only have
20 seconds to write your example. Example,
the category is “possessive adjective” what
you have to do is you write an example of it.
Understood class?
Yes sir
Okay be ready students. May I call on
number 3. Your category is Quantitative
adjectives. Your timer starts now!
“I have seven pets in our house”
“ I ate half of the cake”
“ Only few students attended the mass”
“ Many parents have joined the parade”
Very good! Since it is Quantitative, it
answers the question ‘how many’ or how
much.

Next number is 6. Your category is

Demonstrative adjective. Your timer starts
now!
“Those people are member of Sanguniang
Kabataan”
“This pair of shoes is mine”
“ These are examples of adjectives”
“ That person is the person of interest of the
police”
Very good Linao stars! All your answers are
correct.

Thank you class for your active participation
