4003-9803 Remote Microphone Assembly Installation Instructions

Installation onto Connecting the Remote Microphone Assembly to the panel requires the installation of a 4120-
the 4100U/ 1290 24 Point I/O Card. This is necessary to control the keyswitch input and LED output. Also
4100ES Audio required is custom control for these I/O points to turn them on/off. Figure 4 and Figure 5 depict
Controller and the wiring of the two devices to the Interface block.

Installation onto Connecting the Remote Microphone Assembly to the 4100-1274 Microphone Mux Module
the MMM (MMM) requires the installation of a 4120-1290, 24 Point I/O Card to control the keyswitch inputs
and LED outputs. The 4100-1290 requires custom control for the I/O points to turn on/off. Figure 6
and Figure 7 depict the wiring connections of the two devices to the MMM Interface block.

4003-9803 Remote Microphone Assembly Installation Instructions

Installation onto Note: Please refer to the documents 579-183 and 574-849 regarding the configuration
the MMM, one and the programming of the 24 point I/O card. For the custom control, program the
following
switch for all
connections • Program the 24 Point I/O so that the keyswitches, from the Remote Microphone Modules on a
single MMM, activate the remote microphone input that the MMM is connected to.
• Program the 24 Point I/O so that the LEDs on Remote Microphone Modules, on a single
MMM, activate when any of the 8 microphones are routed and ready to be used.
IMPORTANT: Activating any of the 8 microphones through the keyswitch will enable all 8 micro-
phone inputs on the MMM to be used when the PTT button is pressed. This intentionnal operation is
why all 8 PTT LEDs need to be programmed to turn on when any one of the 8 microphones is keyed.

Troubleshooting Audio Controller or Input Option Card Microphone is displaying “Abnormal”

• The Remote Microphone Module is not wired properly.

• You have a damaged or defective microphone.

Microphone is too quiet or too loud

• The wire impedance is too high: the wire length, or wire gauge, is too small.
• Incorrectly configured as a noise-cancelling microphone (the 4003-9803 is not a noise-
cancelling microphone).

Keyswitch or LEDs are not Working

• Incorrect wiring (consult the wiring figures corresponding to the panel/card you are using).
• Custom Control is not correct (4100U/4100ES only, please see the ES Panel Programmer’s
Manual for details).
