CHAPTER 1
PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
INTRODUCTION
What is Self Confidence? Confidence is commonly used as self –
assurance in one’s personal judgments, ability, power, etc. One’s self
activities increase from experience of having mastered particular activities.
(Argyle, 2013). To be self – confident is to have confidence in yourself. Self –
confident people don’t doubt themselves. This is usually a positive word, you
can be self – confident without being cocky, arrogant, or overconfident. If you
know what you’re doing, you have every season to be self – confident. Self –
confident is something that cannot be taught. It is up to the individual to
decide how much belief that they possess inside of themselves.
Nowadays, Senior High School students here in Antipolo Immaculate
Conception School are having more reporting activities. Because according to
the Republic Act. No 10533 Section 1, also known as the “Enhanced Basic
Education” act of 2013. The enhanced K to 12 curriculum is designed to
provide a holistic education for all. Now it will decongest, it will give ample
time to master basic academic skills, critical thinking as well as participate in
activities. But some students are having problems regarding to their self-
confidence and that is the reason why they’re having trouble in performing
activities reporting. A feeling that the students can do well or succeed in

discussing a lesson in front of their classmates, it will help students build self-
confidence
The purpose of this study is to build self confidence in relation to
reporting a lesson in classes of Senior High School at Antipolo Immaculate
Conception School
SETTINGS OF THE STUDY
The Antipolo Immaculate Conception School owes its beginning to the
kindergarten founded by the late Ms. Agapita Sumulong Panganiban, better
known as “LOLA PETANG”.
Antipolo Immaculate Conception School is having more reporting
acitivities in Senior High School. K to 12 curriculum is designed to provide a
holistic education for all. Antipolo Immaculate Conception School have Senior
High School, it have 3 different strands the HUMSS, STEM and ABM.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The study aims to answer the following questions:
1. What is the relation of self confidence in reporting a lesson in classes?
2. How to build self – confidence in reporting for Senior High School students?
HYPOTHESES OF THE STUDY
The study wants to prove the following hypothesis:
A. Alternative Hypothesis
1. Reporting in classes builds the confidence of the Senior High School
students at Antipolo Immaculate Conception School.
B. Null Hypothesis
2. Reporting in classes doesn’t build the confidence of the Senior High School
students at Antipolo Immaculate Conception School.

SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY
The proposed study will benefit the following individuals:
1. To students – students may able to build self – confidence by reporting a
lesson in class, students self – esteem can be successfully built and those
who are struggling with confidence can make improvements.
2. To teachers – to provide an understanding on the different techniques in
addressing and dealing with a student who have a low self – confidence
reporting a lesson in classes.
3. To future researchers – they may be able to use this research in gathering
data to further understand building self – confidence in reporting a lesson in
classes of students..
