TOPIC: INTRODUCTION TO MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY


CONTENT STANDARD:
The learner demonstrate understanding of media and information literacy (MIL) and MIL
related concepts.
PERFORMNANCE STANDARD:
1. The learner organizes a creative and interactive symposium for the community focusing
on being media and information literate individual

LEARNING COMPETENCIES:
1. The learner describes how communication is affected by media and information
2. The learner identifies the similarities and differences of media literacy, information
literacy, and technology literacy
3. The learner editories the value of being a media and information literate.
SPECIFIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Define media and information literacy
2. Describe how communication is affected by media and information literacy
3. Describe how media and information literacy can be affect in n individual
INTRODUCTION:
Media is the means of communication that reaches or influences people such as radio and
television, newspaper, and magazines.
In communications, media( singular medium) are the storage and transmission channels or tool
used to store and deliver information or data. It is often referred to as synonymous with mass
media or news media, but may refer to a single medium used to communicate any data for any
purpose.
MOTIVATION:
Ask the students what is the importance of the media.
How does the media affect in every person/s.
INSTRUCTION/ DELIVERY:

1. What is media?
Media means of commnunication that can reaches of influences people radio,television
newspaper and magazines.

What are kinds of media?


The kinds of media are printed media, broadcast media and internet

Printed Media:
Is one of the oldest forms of communication.

Broadcast media:
Transmit information electronically via film, radio, recorded music television and etc.

Internet:
Internet and mobile mass commnunication comprise such as email, social media, sites
and websites.

PRACTICE:

1. What is media?
2. What are the kinds of media?
3. What is printed media
4. What is broadcast media?
5. What is internet?

ENRICHMENT:
Have a group discussion regarding the question below:
1. What are the most recent problem in using media ?
2. What are the common effects the media in our community?
3. Describe on how this media can be the primary sources of the problem today?
4. In what ways that media will bring us to be a literate.
TAKEHOME TASK
Visit the websites of the following and answer the questions that follow:
1. At least two Philippines websites
2. At least two international websites
EVALUATION:
