REFLECTION PAPER ON THE MOVIE “GHAJINI”
Personally, I find the movie inspirational and touching since the it’s relatable to real
life and the plot is very unexpected. At the start of the movie, I wondered on what
happened to this guy named Sanjay Singhania as he was attacked by an unknown person
from behind which caused his Anterograde Amnesia which made him forget things after
15 minutes. I am amazed of Sanjay’s method of remembering things after 15 minutes by
using polaroid pictures to take photo of important persons, places, and events and
labelling them respectively. His camera alarms every after 15 minutes to remind him that
he’ll lose his memories again. He had written also his life in the past in his diaries where
it contain a romantic life with his loved one, Kalpana. They spent their lives happily until
Sanjay went off for a business appointment and Kalpana was killed by Ghajini. Sanjay
rushed to Kalpana only to see her dying and Ghajini hit him with an iron rod in his head
leaving him lying on the floor. Kalpana whispered to Sanjay the name “Ghajini” and
passed away. I got saddened by this painful past and realized why Sanjay, a man who
loses his memory in 15 minutes is persistent in getting revenge on Ghajini. The movie
ends with Sanjay killing Ghajini the way Ghajini killed Kalpana. I know he finally got
his revenge but I still can’t move on to his melancholic past since they were happy, kind,
and innocent and they received a karma they never deserved.
The movie taught me to not to judge a book with its cover. Other characters such as
Sunita and the police accused him to be the bad guy. Honestly, I also judged Sanjay as
psychopath, crazy, and the antagonist but after I learned of his past, my impression on
him had changed. I also learned to be compassionate on others who need help just like
Kalpana saving the victims of trafficking from Ghajini. I remembered and reflected on
Rizal’s line in one of his novels, “Walang lihim na hindi nabubunyag.” or simply the
truth will always shine over everything. I learned to find ways to solve our problems just
like how Sanjay managed to go on with his vendetta even with his weakness and
problems. Most importantly, I learned to be careful with my Nervous System since this is
very crucial and important and without this, our body can’t work as usual.
One thing that we could help in resolving problems like in the movie is respecting
others and not judging them without knowing their story. We shouldn’t take revenge on
our enemies as it won’t help solve the problem, but in the movie’s case, Sanjay was able
to attain peace. We must lend our hands to others who need much of our help and not
expect anything in return. We shouldn’t let our winter ruin the rest of our seasons or in
other words, we must not let our bad memories affect or ruin our present our future. We
must find ways in solving our problems and never surrender in life. Most importantly,
we must take care of ourselves too especially the crucial and important parts of our body.
