General
A. Maintain records of all material removed by rework to wing structures,
Jnclude all revork of spar chords, webs, stringers and skin panels. The
cumulative effect of such revork, at a particular wing station, could
have a significant bearing on structural integrity.
B. Extensive rework to the upper and lover skin panels and spar chords at
any wing cross-section may produce a significant chango in the wing
properties at that cross section. Consult Te Boeing Company when
extensive revork is required.
Rework danaged and corroded chords as shown in 51-8:
wprizontal legs Refer to Detail ZIT, Fig. 1 for revork Limits on horizontal
legs.
Vertical lags
A. Wing spar chord vertical legs may be reworked within limits defined by
the accompanying graphs for the removal of damage and corrosion products.
B. Where the thickness Liaits defined in these graphs are exceeded consult
‘The Boeing Company or wake a repair in accordance with SB 324C.
Ce The curves on these graphs are based on static strength criteria
Fatigue life of the component may be affected by rework.

operation
The lift capability of the 707-320B/3200 airplane is supplemented by a
set of three slat assemblies, vhich are installed between the engine
nacelles on each ving, ‘They are attached’ to the underside of the
Leading edge with steel, gooseneck hinge fittings. These lightweight
Lesding edge devices work together, in coordimtion with the trailing
edge flap assemblies, to improve operation of the atrplane ari emble
takeoff in minimm distance.
B. Each slat is operated by a two-position, cylinder type, hydraulic
actuator. An integral part of each actuator ie a locking mechanism
which locks the slat in either the fully extented, or the fully retracted
position, This action precludes the possibility of the slat being blown
‘open or closed if hydraulic pover fails. Each slat contains e linkage
system which operates a hinged fairing assembly mounted on the trailing
edge.
