Objectives By the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to
(Civic Literacy) Knowledge: state at least 4 characteristics of a good and bad friend.
Socioemotional: show appreciation towards a friend with a friendship button.
Action: share how pupils can be a good friend.

LEARNING OUTLINES:
Pre Lesson  Each group is given a set of picture strips and they must rearrange the strips to
form the pictures. They pass around the set on teacher’s que. One person in each
group must write down the sentences.
Activity 1  Each group is given a mah-jong paper and brainstorm the idea of ‘What does a
good friend do?’ on one paper and ‘What does a bad friend do?’ on another
paper.
Activity 2  Pupils come to the front in their groups to present their thoughts on what makes
a good and bad friend.
Activity 3  Pupils chose their partners and make a button badge for their friend on why the
person is a good friend.
Post-lesson  Pupils present their friendship button.
