SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the discussion, students shall be able to:
1. identify the forms of imperative sentences, and;
2. use imperatives when giving instructions
3. formulate instructions and orders
4. apply instruction in a given situation

II. SUBJECT MATTER

III. PROCEDURE
A. Routinary Activities
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance

B. Motivational Activity
Activity 1
 Simon Says. Play "Simon Says" to practice commands. Call out a command, for
example, "Simon says, run!" The class must follow only the commands preceded by
“Simon says...” Students who obey commands without “Simon says” are out.
C. Lesson Proper
 The teacher will ask the learners about their observations on the activity.
 Afterwards, the teacher will show the learners the instructions given to them on the
activity.
 The teacher will again ask the students about their observation based on the
sentences.
 From this, the teacher will introduce the lesson for the day, which is imperative
sentences.

Imperative sentence
The imperative is a type of sentence that gives
advice or instructions that expresses request or
command. It typically begins with the base form
of a verb.

 The teacher will ask the students an example of imperative sentences used in their
Mathematics class. The learners will take turns in stating the steps on how to solve
fractions.

 The teacher will also discuss the forms of imperative verbs, affirmative and
negative.

Activity 2. Let’s Play.


The class will be divided into three groups and shall have 5 representatives for each
group.

There will be 4 settings: HOME, SCHOOL, CHURCH and MALL.

The teacher will show a picture as prompts to practice the use of imperative in different
situations. Say for example the teacher will show a picture of a HAT and the setting is in
the CHURCH, the first representative will construct an imperative sentence based on
the picture considering the given setting, e.g. TAKE OFF YOUR HAT or DO NOT
WEAR YOUR HAT INSIDE. The first group to construct an imperative will earn 2 points.
Students can elaborate as much as they like.

D. Application (Differentiated Activities)


 GROUP 1. Pretend that you are a dance instructor. Lead a two-minute dance
number. Remember to include dance steps that are easy to follow!
 GROUP 2. Do a cooking demo on how to make a certain dish with real or
fictional ingredients you might find in the classroom.
 GROUP 3. Role play a call in radio show where the host gives advice to the
caller on how to respect and value elders.
 GROUP 4. Make a command comic strip and write captions with the
appropriate command under each frame. Present your comic strip to the class,
and read the captions out loud.

E. Generalization
 To make sure that the lesson is learned, the teacher will call students to answer and
complete these statements:
“I have learned that…”
“Knowing the different types of texts is important because…”

F. Evaluation
I. Underline the imperative verb used in each sentence. In the space provided, write A
if it is in the affirmative form, B if it is in the negative form. (2pts each)
