5. THE DIFFERENCE OF MODULE AND STICK BUILT

5.1 Equipment Size Optimization
- When module size limitation has been decided, considering the transportation route, the
dimension modification & equipment split can be acted out to the equipments that are
possible to modify sizes. For instance drums and Separators.
Dimension modification & equipment split should be acted out considering the total cost of
manufacturing expenses, transportation expenses and construction expenses.

5.2 Preparation of Boundary P&ID

- Boundary P&IDs are sectional P&IDs for modularization project. Each unit is shown in the
P&ID as in unit module. Module package consists of boundary P&IDs which shows the unit
module in the P&ID as in the easiest form.
Basically, boundary P&IDs are marked up after the 60% model review but the acting period
can be adjustable considering the project's circumstances.
- The range of standard module boundary P&ID: Process modules need boundary P&IDs, but pipe
rack P&IDs does not need module package which indicates unnecessariness of Boundary P&IDs.

5.3 Considering Regional Aspects

- Considering the location of the project, labor, tax and transportation, the two
aspect(Module & Stick Built) should be decided by converting the considerations into cost.
Locations where module type has to take place in the aspect of process design, module type
should be performed.
- In Alberta Canada, the equipment sizing must be required because of the limitation of the
module's size.

6. FEATURES OF MODULE DELIVERABLE

6.1 The Difference of Module and Stick Built Deliverables
- In process designs, the work of module can be defined by adding the work of note and area
code to the work of Stick Built Work.

6.2.1 ZADCO Proposal

[Fig.6.2.1 Boundary P&ID (ZADCO Proposal)]

- Representing divided P&IDs into module.

- Easy to understand the whole concept but hard to apprehend every line by module no.
- Existence of an indicator that separate equipment based module and Pipe rack Module.

- Indicating modules by similarly dividing the P&IDs as ZADCO Proposal.

- No explanation for side lines on equipment based Modules.
