Holy Week Readings and Activities - Maundy Thursday

Holy Week activities for Thursday focus on the Last Supper and Jesus' time in the Garden of Gethsemane. A prayer thanks God for giving believers the bread and wine during communion to help them remember God's goodness, love, and presence during difficult times, and to feel still connected to the church community even when isolated. The prayer asks God to help people remember and pray for each other during this period of separation.

prayer
Dear God,
Thank you for teaching us the importance of remembering. You knew that life is often hard and
that we would need to remember your goodness and love. You also knew that, in our human
weakness, we would forget. Thank you for giving us the bread and wine to remind us that we are
part of a bigger story than what happens today; thank you for giving us the bread and wine to
remind us that you are always with us; thank you for giving us the bread and wine to help us draw
close to your great love. Help us to keep remembering, O God. And help us also, in this time of
isolation, to remember that we are still part of your church. Remind us to pray for each other, and
to reach out to each other in appropriate ways.
In the holy name of Jesus Christ we pray,
Amen
