The purpose of this procedure is to provide guidelines to carry out the erection of static
equipments to be installed at various Locations at PNCP (EPCC-1), Panipat site.
2 SCOPE:
this procedure covers method of erection of various types of equipments like:
Vessels
Drums
Heat exchangers
Filters
Reactors
Columns. Etc.
3.0 REFERENCE:
Approved Equipment plot plan.
Approved Equipment Foundation drawing.
Approved Piping drg. Showing elevation of various nozzles.
Approved Equipment data sheet.
Approved Vendor’s drg.
Equipment manufacture’s recommendations.
4.0 PROCEDURE:
4.1 After receiving material at site it shall be inspected as per procedure
no.LT/PNCP/WP/IMIR/007. Code-1 approved drg. approved QAP& code-1 approved
PR should be made available during inspection.
4.2 IRN should be available to clear IMIR.
4.3 Proper care shall be taken during unloading of material.

404 Check all pockets depth, size & axis of all pockets w.r.t. Centre line of foundation.
4.5 Check the foundation co-ordinates, Levels, and disposition of anchor bolts and
diameter of holes in saddles or skirts with the layout drawing.
4.6 Check the foundation top is chipped and cleaned, bolt sleeves are cleaned.
4.7 Microchip the foundation at least one in between the pockets meant for foundation bolts.
4.8 Adequancy of threaded length should be checked.
4.9 Tools and tackles used for erection shall have suitable capacity and shall be inspected
before using them.
4.10 Fix a tag marks on the tools and tackles to be used having reqd. capacity.
4.11 Erection scheme for all the critical equipment shall be made & submitted to EIL for review.
The list of all such equipment shall be submitted separately to EIL for review.
4.12 Check the radius, capacity, boom length, boom angle and min. height available of the
crane before erection of equipment.
4.13 During placing of equipment on foundation proper orientation and level shall be ensured.
4.14 Check qdequate numbers of packing plates are placed below the base plate of the
equipment so as to maintain the level of equipment and the anchor bolts shall be
tightened. Packing plates shall be placed as close as possible to the foundation bolts.
4.15 Level the equipment as per drawing by putting shim plates wherever required.
4.16 Check levelling & initial alignment of erected equipment by checking the verticality of
equipment by using Theodolite or plumb.
4.17 Release the equipment for packet grouting after EIL .inspection.
4.18 Vendor recommendations is to be followed for erection and alignment and grouting
material.

4.19 L & T Designer is to review technical requirement of grouting material recommended by
vendor compressive strength reqd. is to be submitted to EIL.
4.20 After curing for reqd. strength final alignment of the equipment is done.
4.21 After getting clearance of levelling & final alignment final, grouting of Equipment shall be
carried out.
4.22 After completion of grouting, clearance shall be taken for flushing and Cleaning if reqd.
4.23 Final boxing has to be done by joint inspection & Clearance from EIL/IOCL shall be
obtained as per ITP.
5.0 DOCUMENTATION:
Documentation will be done as per approved ITP no.
LT/PNCP/ITP/STA-EQPT/008-Rev.01.
6.0 SAFETY:
The L&T shall develop a schedule of heavy lifts. The lifts shall be classified in terms of
their criticality. L&T shall provide it’s procedure for the evaluation of heavy lifts(heaving
weight more than 50MT). The procedure shall incorporate any special Owner
requirements. All critical lifts shall be described in lifting studies and detailed method
statements. The lifting schedule together with the procedures shall be submitted to the
Owner for review. All lifting tools and tickets shall be certified by competent authority.
L&T shall employ an experienced competent and responsible person previously approved
by CIF of local/ concerned state to be in-charge of all lifting operation.
Lifting Studies shall comprise, as a minimum, the following data:
a) Dimensional Plan and Elevation drawing, showing all stages of movement of the load,
from initial to final installed position.

b) Details and capacities of jacks, skates, chain blocks being employed and the locations
on or under the load.
c) Angles of chain blocks doing the operation and method of attachment to the load and
supporting steelwork or structure.
d) Load test of crane, lifting beams, length and dia. of slings and D-Shackles is to be
carried out before use.
e) Details of skid beams, channels and packing arrangement under the beams or
channels.
f) Method statement for the entire lifting operation, indicating how Construction
Equipment shall be installed, load erected and Construction Equipment removed.
g) Detailed calculations as appropriate, including any spreader beams capacities.
h) Itemized checklist for the entire lifting operation.
i) Original Crane Certificate of Inspection/Load Rating for the crane(s) and all lifting
tackle to be used in the lifting operation. Such certificates and any requirement for
additional testing, shall be in strict accordance with Indian Regulations.
