Ms. Long,

I am excited to express my interest in beginning my nursing career at Havasu Regional

Medical Center in the RN-OB-FT position, I am inquiring about this position after seeing the
advertisement posted on the LifePoint health website and hearing about the excellence of this
unit from a current employee. Come May, I will be graduating from the University of
Arizona (UofA) with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

Throughout my two years of clinical experience, I have worked and learned in a variety of
units, including a labor and delivery unit. My recent clinical rotations have allowed me to
sharpen my critical thinking skills so that I can soon begin to exercise my decisive judgment,
work with minimal supervision, effectively utilize the nursing process, and coordinate
cohesive patient care. Throughout my clinical experience, I have also learned to be adaptable
in fast-paced situations while maintaining patient-centered care at all times, which is a
necessity in all aspects of nursing. My interpersonal skills have flourished over the last two
years, and I always strive to pay attention to detail and manage my time efficiently.

I once walked into a patient’s room, and a family member said, ‘is that her?”. The patient
nodded her head, and the family member walked up to me, shook my hand, and thanked me
for all that I had done for his daughter as he began to cry.
I believe that not only summarizes me as a person but directly aligns with Havasu Regional
Medical Center’s value of providing safe care of the highest quality. I think that I can
contribute to the patient-centered and compassionate healthcare facility Havasu Regional
Medical Center prides itself on being.

I have seen firsthand the altruism, quick-thinking, and knowledge it takes to be an OB nurse,
and I believe that my education and experiences have prepared me for such. I look forward to
pursuing my passion for maternal-newborn health and obstetrics. Thank you for taking the
time to read my cover letter. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Madelynn Buckman
