Kinetic energy is the energy possessed by a body in motion. It is defined as half mass times velocity squared. 3. Potential energy is the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position or configuration. Gravitational potential energy and elastic potential energy are conservative forces while friction forces are non-conservative.
