MSC729: Business Logistics & Supply Chain Management

Course Description:
This course is designed for the students of business administration to appreciate the essentials of supply chain
management. It will help the student to discover what a supply chain is and how it works, and to utilize the tools
and techniques to boost an organization’s efficiency and responsiveness to align its supply chain with its
dynamic market environment.

This course is tailored for management students for both to be managers and current managers in an
organization who will soon be responsible for building and operating some part of his/her company’s supply
chain. The course is outlined to cover not only high-level supply chain strategy and concept, but also to give
students a solid understanding of the analytical tools necessary to solve supply chain problems. With this goal
in mind, the course is designed to develop an understanding of the following key areas and their
interrelationships: the strategic role of supply chain, the key strategic drivers of supply chain performance, and
analytic methodologies for supply chain analysis.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
 understand the strategic framework to analyze supply chain
 design a supply chain network for an organization
 develop planning of demand and supply in a supply chain
 plan and manage inventory in a supply chain
 design and plan transportation network
 manage cross functional drivers in a supply chain

VI - Course Requirements
These are the things need to be accomplished properly by the students during the term such as:
1. Attending at least 80% of the classes
2. Attending quizzes, presentation sessions and term exams
3. Submission of the assignments in due time, etc.
4. Grading criteria is according to BRACU’s grading policy.
