CONFIGURING THE DATE AND TIME

A Jacques system controller’s time and date can be adjusted using the web interface. If the correct time zone is
configured a Jacques system controller will automatically adjust for daylight savings. If using Jacques High
Availability, Jacques strongly recommends the use of a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server.

1. Using the web interface, navigate to Host > Date/Time.

The Date/Time configuration page will show the user the current system time, time zone and NTP setting.
2. To edit the date/time select EDIT.
3. Select the Time Zone that matches the location of the server. The time zone selection also sets whether to
adjust the clock for daylight savings. E.G although Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne are all GMT+10,
Brisbane does not observe daylight savings.
4. Uncheck “Enable NTP” to manually adjust the date/time settings or click "Synchronize" to synchronize the
system controller to the local PC.

CONFIGURING AN NTP SERVER

5. Follow steps 1 – 3 above and ensure Enable NTP has been selected.
6. Under "ntpd service" click "Edit", select "Run On Boot" and click "Commit".
7. The "NTP Daemon" table shows the currently configured NTP servers. The entry %jccpserver%" refers to
the server’s own address. Click edit to edit the current address or click Add to add a new one. If there is no
NTP server then delete the %jccpserver% entry. The server will refer to its own internal hardware clock in
this case.
8. Select “iburst” when the communications with the NTP server may be unreliable
9. Select “preferred” to make this NTP server the preferred ntp source.
10. Select “truechimer” to trust this server even if local algorithms imply this server is unreliable.

ADVANCED CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

Accept Non-Compliant Servers

allows the Jacques server to use a Windows Domain controller as the NTP source, since Windows
will not send compliant NTP to clients that are not joined to the Windows domain. To enable this
feature click Edit and then check the box and click Commit

TESTING

Press the "Test" button next to the NTP Server you have just added and ensure that a valid NTP
server has been added to the system.
• It may take some time for the clock to synchronize with the new server.
• Click restart or reboot the server using the Reboot menu to force the clock to update.
