Game Activity

Sneak attack
Supplies: none
Skills: Marching, running
Two parallel lines are drawn about 60 feet apart. The class is divided into two teams. One
team takes the position on one of the lines, with their back to the area. These are chasers.
The other team is on the other line, facing the area. This the sneak team. The sneak teams
move forward on a signal, Moving toward the chasers. When they get reasonably close, a
signal is given, and the sneak team turns and runs back to their line, chased by another
team. Anyone tagged before reaching the line changes to the chase team. The game is
then repeated with the roles exchanged.

Mat Games
Supplies: individual Mats
Skills: Running jumping
Each child is seated on a mat. On signal, each rises and jumps over as many
different mats as possible. On the next signal, each child takes a seat on the nearest mat.
The last child to be seated can pay a penalty. The game can also be played by eliminating
one or two mats so that one or two children are left without a home base. The teacher can
stand on a mat or turn over the mats to put them out of the game. To control roughness,
the rule should be that the first child to touch the mat gets to sit on it.
A variation Of this game id to have each child touch at least 10 mats and then sit
crossed-legged on own mat. Or a child can be required to alternate touching a mat or
jumping over the next mat until a total of ten is reached. “See how many mats you can
cartwheel or jump over in 20 seconds.” Change challenge.
