Animals – Wild and Tame
In this lesson we will……
learn the difference between wild and tame animals
be able to sort and group wild and tame animals
understand who is a veterinarian.
know how to look after pets and investigate the different
pet foods available in the supermarket.
Wild animals
Have you been to the zoo? In a zoo, we see wild animals.They have
been brought from all over the world. The zoo keepers take care
of these animals and feed them.
The wild animals usually live in the jungle or forests. We cannot
tame them and keep them on the farm or at home.
Here are pictures of some wild animals.

Tame or domestic animals
Animals that are very useful to us are kept in the farm or at home
and are called tame animals or domestic animals.
Farm animals Animals like cows, horses, goats, sheep, hens and
ducks can be tamed and kept on the farms.
Pet animals Some animals are gentle and friendly. People can keep
them at home as pets.
Some people keep strange pets-birds from other countries,
snakes, rabbits and white mice. Do you know about any such pets?
Looking after pets :
Feed your pets the correct food.
Bathe your pets to keep them clean
Give them sufficient space to live comfortably.
Give your pets fresh air, regular exercise and keep their
surroundings clean.

Who is a zoologist ?
A person or a scientist who studies about animals is
called a zoologist.
Let us research!
Over the weekend visit a supermarket near you and find out
information about the pet food available.
Brand name of the pet food.
Pet food available is for which animal
Draw or stick a picture of an animal you would like to have as
a pet.
Note down your answers for the above when your teacher asks you
to, on the sheet provided to you by your teacher.

A doctor who looks after animals is called a veterinarian.
There are many veterinary hospitals and clinics in Dubai.
Dogs and cats must have annual (yearly) vaccinations in Dubai.
They must also wear the Dubai Municipality ID disc on their
collar at all times.
