We use the indefinite article A/AN with singular COUNTABLE nouns, never in plural.
We can write them before nouns or adjectives E.g.: AN igloo in the Artic, AN old BUILDING,
AN elegant boy / A HOUSE by the sea, a happy girl.
We use AN, before words that begin with V OWELS sounds. E.g. HOUR, angel, Indian OCTOPUS,
Honest, Umbrella, INSTITUTE, English.
We use A, before words that start with CONSONANT sound. E.g.: Person, boat,
University, Monkey, Uniform, Horse, Cat.
We never use A/An with uncountable/non-countable nouns. E.g.: Water, oil, SUGAR,
pasta, shampoo, JUICE, etc.
We use SOME to talk about not determined number of nouns in plural.
